🎏 Happy Children's Day, Japan! 🇯🇵
Today, we celebrate the strength and happiness of all of our children, who hold the future of the world in their hands. Inspired by the resilient koi fish, symbols of perseverance and courage, we are reminded of the potential within our young ones to overcome challenges and thrive. As koi swim upstream against the current, let's encourage our children to become mindful, human-connected, and culturally sensitive citizens and global travelers, embracing and learning from the diversity around them.
Let’s raise our koinobori high, fill the skies with color, and look forward to a world enriched by understanding and respect. Here's to nurturing the next generation of dreamers, doers, and bridge-builders! 🌍🌈

🌸 Welcome to Kyoto. From left to right:
Geiko, often known in the West as geisha, are traditional Japanese female entertainers who are skilled in various arts such as classical music, dance, games, and conversation. Predominantly found in Kyoto, these women wear elaborate kimonos and distinct makeup, featuring white foundation, red lips, and intricately styled hair. The term "geiko" specifically refers to these artists in Kyoto, distinguishing them from the "geisha" found in other parts of Japan. The training to become a geiko is rigorous and requires years of apprenticeship.
Maiko are apprentice geiko, and this stage is the introductory period of their career in the traditional arts. A maiko's appearance is slightly different from that of a geiko, notably in their brighter kimonos and more colorful obi (sash), along with a hairstyle adorned with various decorative pins and accessories. Maiko typically begin their training in their teenage years and undergo several years of instruction in arts, manners, and cultural practices before graduating to full geiko status.
In the traditional schooling of geiko and maiko, a "teacher" plays a pivotal role in passing down the cultural heritage. These teachers are masters in specific arts like dance, singing, or playing traditional instruments like the shamisen. Often, they have themselves been geiko or are experts in their respective fields. Teachers are revered for their deep knowledge and experience, and they maintain a strict training regime, ensuring that the cultural practices and artistic expressions are preserved through generations.
Whether you're seeking exclusive entertainment or a private venue, we have you covered. ✔️

...From a historical tour of Tokyo with a passionate and knowledgeable Western guide in Tokyo, to a luxurious stay at a Kyoto boutique ryokan, both experiences were meticulously planned and surpassed my expectations.
However, the highlight of my trip was undoubtedly my two-day retreat in Nagano. Thanks to Lauren's personal connection with the owner of a local ryokan in Shibu Onsen, I was treated to a luxurious suite boasting a breathtaking balcony view of Yamanochi. The private hot tub fed by the local hot spring offered serene relaxation amidst nature's splendor, and each meal curated by the hotel's talented chef was a culinary masterpiece, enhancing my overall experience.
Working with ZI was seamless; they seamlessly translated my interests into an unforgettable journey through Japan. I cannot wait to return back with them. Thank you, Lauren and the ZI team, for orchestrating a truly magical adventure."
It's reviews like this that bring us so much joy and fulfillment doing what we do best. Creating unique moments and memories that not only last a lifetime, but truly inspire travelers like Rob to return to Japan. 🇯🇵

And just like that... Peak days are here and gone 🌸.
"Sakura", or cherry blossoms, symbolize the beauty and transience of life in Japanese culture. They mark a time of renewal and optimism, celebrated with Hanami parties under the blossoming trees. As a national symbol, sakura reflect Japan's appreciation for the fleeting moments of beauty and serve as emblems of friendship internationally. 🌸✨
More shots to come!

The bloom is near!
Below-average temperatures in much of March have slowed down the pace of the cherry blossoms, which is now on par with the average year or even lagging behind it by a few days. However, the temperatures are currently far above average, speeding up the next few days of blossoming. In many major cities of Japan the peak of the season is expected to start in the first few days of April. Here are the latest reports.
>> Kumamoto March 31 - April 6
>> Kyoto April 4 - 12
>> Tokyo April 3-11
>> Sendai April 6 - 14
>> Sapporo April 28-May 5
For everyone visiting in the next few days, you are in for a treat! 🌸

Several paradigm shifting, profound and serendipitous moments at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio inspired our Founder to dig deeper to understand cultural differences between the US and Japan, the Olympic Movement, and how people travel between the East and West.
Six months later, Lauren moved across the United States to begin conversations with Team USA as they travel, engage and interact with Japan. She saw an opportunity to help the team integrate, be more aware, sensitive and respectful leading up to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Along the way she met many Americans interested in traveling to Japan, but had no idea where to start.
Now, with a growing team, portfolio of clients, trips back to Japan, and hyperlocal connections, ZI is changing the way athletes, businesses, artists, and travelers think, approach and engage not only with Japan, but with themselves and the world.
WE ARE ON A MISSION.
To inspire all individuals to enhance their own cross-cultural awareness and global travels by changing the way they explore, engage, and immerse in the rich depths of not only Japan, but the world.
TEAM.
