Let’s raise a glass to the woman who lifts us up and helps us feel seen…HAPPY BIRTHDAY, shon’t!
We met shon’t 5+ years ago through Adventure Mamas Initiative. A relationship built and fostered over hours long phone calls blossomed into a real-life friendship full of love, honesty, and deep exploration of justice.
She is an adored Root Adventures tour leader who has inspired so many to push their limits and surpass goals. Through her creativity and art, she generously shares pieces of her world with each of us.
Thank you for being you, shon’t! You are such a gift to this world!
🖤 Ode to a Hat 🖤
For the past 5 years, the Root hat has been our faithful companion on countless adventures.
From our very first Baja Kayak Adventure to the depths of the Patagonian wilderness, our trusty hat has graced the heads of Rooties worldwide.
EVERYONE looks good in it! But it's more than just a fashion statement. Our traveler hat symbolizes curiosity, love, and adventure – it's a beacon for those who dare to dream and explore beyond the horizon. Each crease and fray tells a story of courage, discovery, and the unbreakable bond between fellow travelers.
So here's to our beloved traveler hat – may it continue to accompany us on countless journeys, inspiring curiosity and spreading love wherever it goes. Who's ready to embark on the next adventure with their trusty Root hat?

🥰 We’re a day late in celebrating the birthday of the brightest light at Root Adventures. @go.with.caro, we’re so lucky to know, adventure, laugh (non-stop), and work with you.
Top 5️⃣ Things We LOVE About Caro:
1️⃣ She is a lifetime student. You will never feel less than around this woman because she knows she has something to learn from all of us.
2️⃣ She exemplifies the power of vulnerability. Caro works hard to grow and expand and is generous enough to let us in on her path so we can grow right along with her.
3️⃣ She makes everyone feel seen. From her first trip with Root Adventures as a guest, we knew she had the ability to truly listen and make us all feel valuable.
4️⃣ That LAUGH! Her laugh is so contagious, it can be heard through a photo. Finding and sharing joy in the most mundane experience is her super power.
5️⃣ She is a delightful traveler. Traveling with Caro means you have the chance to meet and learn from everyone. From servers and pedestrians in the plaza, Caro will start a conversation with anyone allowing us to see the world through the eyes of everyone.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CARO! 🎈🎉 Thank you so much for being a part of the Root team! Watching you explore, grow, and play is such a beautiful gift.

About the Galápagos Islands and wildlife: The Galapagos or “Laboratory of Evolution” is the historical inspiration of naturalist Charles Darwin. The islands are extremely pristine: no other place on earth is as free of introduced and invasive species.
Because it was so isolated for so long, Galapagos wildlife never developed a fear of humans - so much so that you need to watch your step or you may inadvertently tread on native wildlife!
The area is highly regulated to ensure the wildlife continues to thrive, so we feel very honored to receive one more spot, JUST. FOR. YOU!!

This is what mindfulness looks like. 📿 🪩 ❤️
Oftentimes we are sold the idea that mindfulness is only for the "Zen". Mindfulness isn't meditation or stillness. Mindfulness is PRESENCE and presence looks different for everyone. For some, meditation is a necessary avenue to access mindfulness. For some, it's dancing, hiking, meaningful conversation, etc.
A formal meditation practice can be a great avenue to access mindfulness, but it's not for everyone. If it's not for you, bring the practice into your life in little ways: truly listen when others speak, observe the colors on your walking path, feel the rhythm of the music. The only requirement for mindfulness is paying attention to the gifts right in front of you.

What’s in a trip? And where is my money going?
Hands up if you’ve ever declared, ‘No more window pics!’ before a journey, only to succumb to the mesmerizing views just 10 minutes in! ✈️🚗 Guilty. There’s something irresistible about the changing landscapes, the clouds painting the sky, or the city lights twinkling below. Can you relate, or am I flying (or driving) solo in this internal struggle? 📸🌅
This theme of this trip: STORYTELLING
Before the adventure, we thought that meant learning videography/storytelling skills from tour leader, @tialoraestorytelling.
The theme stayed true in the most honest sense of the word, but these stories are meant just for us.
We shared the most intimate pieces of ourselves and listened deeply to one another. In just a few short days, we unpacked some of the deepest, most honest parts of our souls and were received with nothing but love and kindness. And most importantly, we felt heard!
Never have I experienced such a broad range of religious beliefs and felt so safe. These woman lead with love and curiosity above all else.
I’m forever grateful for each of you! 😍
Special shoutout to the lovely @go.with.caro who helped us break free.
Life is a recipe - a mix of your experiences, memories, and emotions with a dash of the people you meet and the places you go.
What a better way to add to your personal recipe than with a visit to Oaxaca - one of the most vibrant Mexican cities known for its rich and flavorful food, art, music, artisans and more.
Check out our 7 day cultural immersion experience in Oaxaca this December
-cooking classes, mole, mezcal and cacao tastings
