Great article here. For someone like myself who uses a lot of exclamation points: "Spam filters also look for an abundant use of punctuation such as asterisks, all caps or numerous exclamation points."

The only part of an email certain to be read is the subject line. If that's boring, few will read what follows no matter how brilliant it is.
