Lookout Mountain Incline Railway
Built in 1895 replacing an older incline nearby this funicular type railway travels 1 mile up Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, TN. The maximum grade is 72,7% making it one of the steepest railways in the world. Compare to 3% to 6% maximum grade on freight railways. The cars were replaced in 2020 and one of the older cars is on display in the parking lot. Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area.

Kinzua Bridge, Pennsylvania
When the Kinzua Bridge (pronounced 'Kinzu') was originally built in 1882 it was the tallest railroad bridge in the world. The piers were rebuilt in 1903 and after freight service bypassed it, sightseeing excursion continued into the 21st Century. Sadly, in 2003, a tornado caused the bridge to collapse. The remaining section has been made into a Skywalk. The photograph was taken with a modified infrared camera and processed to emulate Kodak Aerochrome film.
