As we all return to our respective offices scattered around the world, there’s a touch of sadness in saying goodbye. Our travel designer team had an unforgettable journey through South Africa - a week filled with discovery, joy, and lasting friendships. Now, we’re excited to continue exploring and experiencing the world through the eyes of our clients.
What a city! Our Travel Designers have been zipping around Cape Town, diving into all the hidden gems it has to offer. We’ve savoured bites at quirky local spots, grabbed coffee from Bruce at the Fix while chatting with park regulars, and even rolled up our sleeves to cook samosas in the Bo-Kaap. From sipping creative cocktails at the Machine to indulging in classic milk tart with Rooibos tea after strolling through the Company Gardens, it’s safe to say we’ve soaked up the city’s essence-and maybe a few extra pounds too! But hey, its’s all in the name of curating the best for our clients :)
Iconic Mount Nelson High Tea. Our team enjoyed a delicious tea at one of the oldest but most beautiful properties in Cape Town.
More tales from the bush as the Rothschild team continues their travels-exciting game drives, nyala grazing just outside our room, and private charter flights over Africa’s breathtaking landscapes.
Bidding farewell to the bush, our resident nyala at Morokuru Farm House. Taking private charter from Madikwe heading to Cape Town!
Our wonderful guide Werner explains the Madikwe Game Reserve including the different wildlife species you will find here. #mateya #Madikwe
Choosing the right lodge when traveling to Africa is one of the most important decisions you have to make. Rothschild Safaris travel designers vet every single property we recommend for our clients. As our team travels through the Madikwe Reserve we have been inspecting various properties along the way, everything from traditional camps to ultra luxury lodges. Some of our highlights during our stay have included drinks around the firepit while we watched a herd of elephant drinking at the waterhole at Morokuru Farmhouse, high tea at Mateya Lodge watching hyena and warthog on the plains and a boma dinner while staff sang and danced for us.
Going on safari is not just about the famous Big Five, our guides show you everything the bush has to offer! For us this included the leopard tortoise, dung beatles hard at work, we even came across a baboon spider nest - luckily he was still sleeping!!

Dehorning a Wild Rhino at Tintswalo
Conservation is integral to all we do at Rothschild Safaris. Whether aligning with conscientious properties or actively investing in projects, each and every client contributes to the preservation of these remarkable destinations.
For one lucky guest, his recent Southern African adventure included participating in a rhino dehorning at Tintswalo Safari. This vital and life-saving activity removes the rhino's viability to poachers seeking to sell horns to the illegal trade in animal products.
"Rothschild Safaris planned an amazing safari for us. The vacation was the trip of a lifetime and every detail was planned perfectly. We participated in a Rhino conservation effort which was amazing." - Tim Kish.
