Job Description
Explorer Tours offers diverse tours for small groups of less than 14 guests. We are a client-driven, client-focused company looking to provide only exceptional services from exceptional guides. A typical tour may last anywhere from 4 hours to 8 hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF TOUR GUIDES:

• Weekends are a must. Have to be able to work weekends.
• Schedules are diverse; you’ll lead both half and full-day tours in outdoor settings.
• You’ll spend the majority of your time alone with clients, making it imperative you be a responsible self-starter.
• You must be qualified and able to safely operate Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit vans, and Extended SUV’s to transport clients. Vans hold 14 passengers.
• Maintain a professional appearance and manner of conduct at all times and with all clients, coworkers, and affiliates.
• Applicants must be a resident of Colorado. No exceptions.
• Applicants must hold a valid Colorado driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
• Potential employees must obtain a DOT medical examiner’s certificate, which will include passing a physical and drug screen.
• College degree is preferred, but equivalent life experience will be considered.

Driving conditions will not always be ideal in Colorado. Guides must be able to comfortably traverse through heavy traffic, urban traffic, and mountain roads.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS. We seek out the most qualified and talented guides possible. As such, we will give special consideration to candidates with our desired, albeit not required, qualifications. These include:

• At least a year of experience in a group facilitating, team building, and/or leadership development role.
• Experience of at least a year as an interpretive guide, educator, or outdoor tour leader.
• Specialty knowledge, application, or education in a naturalist field, such as geology, botany, birding, anthropology, or glaciology.
