If you haven't been to La Rioja Wine Region, Ontañón is a family-owned winery based in Quel, a village in the Rioja Baja.
They have 250 hectares of vineyards in the region, and a winery near the vineyards. I visited their winery located in Logroño and what an amazing experience it was! Even tried a white Tempranillo 😋

Argentina's Zuccardi Valle de Uco was named the planet's top wine tourism destination in a ceremony that took place at the Schloss Johannisberg winery in Rheingau, Germany.

Felipe started his business 7 years ago when he found himself surprised to discover a winery in downtown Denver. It dawned on him that if he had no knowledge of the wineries in Denver, others probably didn't either.
So, it all started with a friend's SUV, a half-baked itinerary, and 4 guests, which turned out to be the drunkest guests the wine tour ever had; food wasn't included on the first tour, and guests tasted close to 35 wines over 5-6 hours. 🍷 🥴
Since then wine tours have grown to host thousands of guests for special events, tours, and wine activities throughout Colorado.
But, wine tours weren't always front of mind for Felipe.
“My father brought my family to Longmont from Mexico when I was 7 years old. We were looking for a better life and work opportunities. I grew up in a low-income housing community when we got here in 1993. That community was the start of many educational and professional opportunities since it had an after-school learning center, Casa de la Esperanza, that provided me with mentors and an innumerable amount of educational programs growing up.
I eventually joined its team, first as a volunteer, then as a volunteer coordinator, and eventually as the director of the center. This changed my entire professional life as it led me to fulfilling work in the non-profit sector, and I only left because I decided to start Mile High Wine Tours.”
That is the story of how Mile High Wine Tours got started. ☺️

It's been quite the adventure to reopen the wine tasting tours after the pandemic. However, we wouldn't be able to do so without an incredible team working to make each wine experience incredibly memorable. 🥂 🙃

Today, we’d like to introduce you to one of our new tour guides, Mackenzie Jackson. A graduate of CSU with a Health and Exercise Science degree with a concentration in Health Promotion. She is a certified Pilates instructor who loves working with people. 🙌🏻
MacKenzie is a prime example of what extraordinary service looks like. She genuinely connects with guests and everyone she meets.

While Sonoma is renowned as the heart of California wine country, it's by no means the only U.S. wine region worth visiting. Here's where to look.
Carboy Winery is a unique urban winery continuously grows, and we are so excited for it! They now have a total of 3 locations with another one opening soon in Palisade, Colorado. This all within a span of 5 years since officially opening in 2016.
They are working hands-on with vineyards & winemakers from prominent wine regions around the country. They source high-quality wine that is then aged further, blended, or bottled as is to make their brand of Carboy Wines.

As we feature some of Colorado's top wineries we have to mention one of the oldest vineyards and highest rated wineries in our state, Carlson Vineyards.
Parker and Mary Carlson planted their first vines in 1981 and 7 years later, they established their winery in a 1930 fruit packing shed. They wanted to make wine from the best local wine grapes and fruits and so they did! Their goal was to craft wines that people enjoyed drinking, affordable and unpretentious. Having the belief that wine is a great accompaniment to life, best with food and friends and we could not agree more!
Current owners Garrett and Cailin Portra were supposed to just stay in Colorado for 6 months, but eventually decided to stay for good because who wouldn’t?! Garrett began working at Carlson Vineyards in 2011 with the hopes of starting a winery of his own someday. The opportunity to purchase the vineyard came and it was too good to pass so here they are now – continuing what Parker and Mary started and enjoying the good life and wine Palisade has to offer!
