Chitto State Park, Louisiana, great hiking, fishing and camping!
My daughter Summer and I took a day trip to check this park out since she is starting a hiking group for her church in the Fall. 🥾 We loved it and plan on going back to rent cabins. 🏕
Looking from the outside, the cabins were great! We saw that the cabins had screened porches that overlooked the water. I could just imagine sitting there in the evenings watching the sunset 🌅 or fishing 🎣 from private piers!
There is a playgroud for the kids with a splash pad 💦and a nearby kids hiking trail.
Parts of the park have hilly roads but not too hilly to ride your bikes. 🚲 🚲🚲
There are several hiking trails. We took one for beginners since I had hip surgery 6 months post op. I was careful and I did great! I was proud of myself. 💪 There were a couple of steep places that gave me a good workout.
I recommend taking a walking stick, water and a snack! 🥪💧
There is a town (Ville Platte) 9 miles away if you prefer a restaurant.
The trail we took had a bathroom at the beginning and end. This was very helpful since you are a long way from town. I do suggest using it so you won’t have any surprises on the trail. 😜
