"HMS Warspite was a training ship berthed on the Thames at Woolwich. There were two, the first of which was burnt in 1876, and it is likely that this is the second, also owned and run by The Marine Society. She was launched at Chatham dockyard in 1833, with 120 guns. Originally named HMS Waterloo, she was also eventually destroyed by fire in 1918. Wyllie often drew, etched and painted the shipping he saw at anchor in the Thames and the Medway, particularly in the first half of the 1880s when he cruised the Thames in his yacht Ladybird, painting as he went. In these years his Academy exhibits were exclusively Thames subjects. He particularly loved the old ships of the Napoleonic era, the unbowed leviathans that evoked memories of past heroism and trained young sailors for future duty, that were a common sight in the rivers and harbours of southern England right up to the Great War."

My family and I had a wonderful time on a sunset sail with East Pass Sailing Company. Captain Matt and James were knowledgeable and wonderful to be around. We felt safe the entire time and it was cool to be able to go out into the gulf. They positioned us perfectly to watch the sun go down. Highly recommend booking with this company!

June 2nd, 2022. 2hr @ 6pm. 2 passengers. Meyers and Metcalfe. 2-3ft / 5-12kts SSW. Great passengers, very easy conversation. Conditions just right to sail most of the trip. Ran engine less than 3 minutes during entire cruise.

Absolutely fantastic!!
We couldn't have asked for a better sailing experience, truly!!!! Capt. Chris is very personable, caters to all comfort levels, extremely knowledgeable and ensures safety first. We had a great time with Capt. Chris & Capt. James--good tunes, shared laughs & spotted playful dolphins and had the best view of a stunning sunset.

February 25th, 2024. 2hr @ 430pm. 4 passengers. Meyers and Stilla. Flat calm / light breeze. Just enough wind to fill the sails and move the boat. Perfect conditions in Gulf for photos. Amazing Sunset.

July 13th, 2021. 3hr @ 5pm. 4 passengers. Meyers and Metcalfe. 2-3ft with a swell from the S / ~10kts S. Family from Arkansas, two young boys about 12 years old, parents are a very nice couple, same age as me. Boys fell asleep in 15m from the dock, came alive again halfway through the trip. Were interested and energetic about how the sails worked. I offered them jobs when they turn 18 haha.

July 11th, 2023. 2hr . 5 passengers. Meyers and Stilla. 1-2ft calm / 10-15kts SSW. Nice couple from Georgia having a date night. Their second summer sailing with us, said last year's sail was the highlight of their vacation. Stunning sunset. Exceptional sailing conditions. Averaged over 7.5kts SOG for most of the cruise.
