LaVentana Cafe has made its first appearance on the list as it celebrates its one-year anniversary. There's an ongoing event between the cafe and its staff, who plan to visit several places. It seems they might check off that list sooner than later.

Just experienced the most amazing tour with the City Institute in Detroit! 🌆 We started at the @detroitartistsmarket in Midtown, discovered hidden gems in Warren, and got to learn about the historic @cadieuxstage.
We visited the open art space, Sheppard, hosted by @librarystreetcollective truly a sight to behold! 🎨 We also got to hear about future plans at @detroitpeoplesfoodcoop from Lanay Williams. 🥬
Our journey took us to the most requested stop, the @pizzabardetroit , and we wrapped up with insights from the President of the Southwest Detroit Business Association @detroitdonutvilla 🍩 The trip concluded at a real hidden gem, the @Detroit Historic Development Corporation.
This tour was truly an enlightening journey through Detroit’s rich history and vibrant present. Can’t wait for the next one!

Have you ever said “there’s nowhere to go!” or think you’ve been to every bar and restaurant in Detroit? In honor of 313 Day, City Institute is bringing back the Bar & Restaurant Checklist to inspire locals and visitors to experience food and drinks at some of the 918 bars, restaurants and cafes in Detroit, Highland Park and Hamtramck.
City Institute and its predecessors have been keeping the list for almost 20 years but haven’t updated it since the pandemic until now. With support from @bankofamerica they were able to take the time and energy to overhaul the list which has changed drastically since 2019 including a net gain of about 55 since the last list was printed.
