DETROIT UP NORTH: PORT AUSTIN
Traditionally, Detroit Up North: Port Austin, has been an annual weekend event that takes place in Michigan's thumb region. Now in its sixth year, the event focuses on connecting Detroiters to the beauty of Michigan’s Great Lakes and natural resources. The Detroit Up North weekend features local chefs, vendors, musicians, and artists making the trek two hours north to connect to one another and Michigan’s amazing landscape. It is a unique opportunity to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of life in Detroit and connect to other community members in the relaxing and inspiring context of Huron County.
The three days are jam packed with activities that highlight the strengths of Detroit’s growing creative community as well as the landscape and beauty of Huron County. Every year it exposes Detroiters to the growing opportunity for tourism in The Thumb, only a short two hour hike northeast. Thanks to the support of our long-term partners at Bird Creek Farms we will continue to provide a meaningful experience for folks from southeast Michigan all the way to the tip of the thumb!
