Show of hands: who's been to the top of Peninsula State Park's new (well, still new to us!) Eagle Tower in Peninsula Park?

If you haven't, consider putting it on your list of things to do the next time you visit. There are two ways to access the tower: one is via the 850-foot ramp through a canopy of trees to the top of the tower (complete with 16 flat resting points for young children or those in wheelchairs to take in the view unobstructed by the railing, or the "old-fashioned" way, up the 95 steps of interior staircase.

What awaits you? Oh, not much: just one of the most breathtaking views of Door County. 😉

Learn more about the tower here: https://peninsulastatepark.org/eagle-tower/

We are pleased to announce that the new Eagle Tower and ramp will be opening to the public on April 30th along with other observation towers across the state! There will be posted guidance (i.e. 6’ spacing and wearing masks if unable to keep distance from others) and a capacity limit. Parking may be limited on weekends so try to avoid busy times, and consider car pooling or hiking in from other parking areas. A permanent kiosk and interpretive signage will be coming in the next few months, too. We will continue to post updates as we receive new information. (Photo credit: Chris Holicek)

Potawatomi State Park doesn’t always get the hype the other Door County state parks do, but it is absolutely just as beautiful and suitable for adventure as any other. Think steep rolling hills, jagged limestone cliffs, sweeping lake views, a huge variety of animal and plant life. Come here for secluded biking and hiking, water sports like boating and fishing, two miles of Green Bay shoreline, and plenty of family-friendly campsites.

Thru-hiking enthusiasts can also visit (or set out from) the eastern terminus of the . Find one of the end points of this iconic National Scenic Trail on the north side of the park near the boat launch.

Our Story

Welcome to our vacation home!

Our terrific mom, Linda Hinkston, bought this property in the mid-90’s as a “get-a-way” second home. Through the years, she made many great memories with family and friends. However, the only thing that is constant is change, and after nearly 25 years of ownership, it was time to make a change. She had some difficult decisions to make and decided that it was best to sell the property. As we gathered for one last long weekend to reminisce over years of great memories, it became clear that we weren’t quite ready to give it up just yet. We all agreed that the siblings, Lauren and Brent, would jump in and turn it into a rental property that others could enjoy as we have allowing us to keep it in the family until we are ready to make a different decision.

Tucked privately back into a pine and cedar forest, a paved driveway leads you to a charming home surrounded by beautiful landscaping and the sounds of birds that welcomes you in. The location is ideal for a relaxing getaway -- just yards from the Lake Michigan shore and a 15-minute walk to Cave Point County and Whitefish Dunes State Parks -- great for watching morning sunrises or for taking tranquil hikes.

The screened porch may just be your favorite fair weather place! Skylights bring in light from above, and the view of the backyard garden and sound of the remote-controlled waterfall is so peaceful. Great for reading books, socializing or just quietly meditating. There are two other outdoor seating areas which can be used as well.
