Your Community is our Community

The developments over the past few weeks related to the Coronavirus have been surprising and challenging for all of us.
Lucky Orphans thrives on strengthening and inspiring the community—and there's never been a more important time to do just that.

During this unprecedented time, in light of COVID-19, we are cancelling Pony Pals, Bowen at the Barn, and other large group events, however:

You can still volunteer.

You can still visit in small groups between 9 am and 3 pm for a walk on the farm and some fresh air.

You can still schedule one-on-one riding lessons with Lindsey

Thank you for your courageous, compassionate, and non-anxious presence during the coming weeks.

A nice relaxing spring day here at the farm . Taking in the sun ☀️. Word around the farm there was Equine Assisted Reiki going on in the barn . No wonder I am feeling so relaxed 😎 🐴.

Although I still don’t let many humans get too close or touch me.
Yesterday I had a nice visit with my friend .
AND I did let her scratch my neck and clean my eyes ...it felt good .

Is your school part of ? April 26 has been proclaimed Dutchess County Help A Horse Day by County Executive Marcus Molinaro and NYS Senator Sue Serino. Did you know Dutchess County is the largest horse populated county in New York State with about 10,000 horses AND horses are the only livestock in EVERY town in Dutchess AND horses are the largest agricultural commodity in Dutchess? We are so happy that horses are such a large component of life in Dutchess County. Show your pride for living in Horse Country by getting your school involved in Help A Horse Day. Shirts and hats are available for sale and the school that sells the most will get a visit from one of our rescued ponies at your school with a program.

Been a while since I posted . It’s cold and muddy but my friend came to visit me today . She has not been here in a few weeks and it was nice to see her . We had a nice visit . It did not take me long to let her scratch my neck . Tula even got a scratch .
I like it when my friend comes to visit .

It’s been a while since I gave an update . Life is good here with my daughter Envy and the rest of the herd . I am still a bit shy and untrusting but I am getting better . My human friend came to visit and it made me happy . Although I am still cautious, I have to admit I loved her scratches . This is BIG for me . We had a nice visit and can’t wait for her to come back . Maybe you can come and visit too . I cannot guarantee you can pet or give me scratches but many of my horse sister and brothers would love it .

My friend showed me how to do selfies with her . Sometimes I have to smell the camera to make sure it’s not a carrot 🥕 . Stop in and visit me and take a picture.
