This holiday season, I wanted to share a glimpse of the beautiful Christmas traditions celebrated across the globe, inspired by a school project my daughter Sammy recently completed. It’s a reminder of the joy, warmth, and love that connect us all, no matter where we are.

🎄 Sweden: Celebrating St. Lucia Day with light, warmth, and the magic of Tomten.
🎄 Mexico: The vibrant Las Posadas, poinsettias, and festive piñatas bring communities together.
🎄 Germany: Gingerbread houses, enchanting Christmas markets, and the Christkind’s gifts.
🎄 Spain: Epiphany celebrations with the Three Wise Men and beautifully crafted Nativity scenes.
🎄 Italy: Midnight Mass, La Befana’s generosity, and the sweetness of panettone.
🎄 England: Evergreen decor, carolers spreading holiday cheer, and the tradition of Boxing Day giving.

As we reflect on these wonderful traditions, I hope this Christmas Eve brings you and your loved ones a sense of unity, peace, and joy.

Mexico is so much more than beaches and resorts—it’s a living, breathing tapestry of history, art, faith, and tradition.

If you’ve only ever dipped your toes into Mexico’s coastal towns, you’ve yet to truly discover its soul.

Mexico City is a vibrant hub where modern life intertwines seamlessly with ancient traditions. Each step was an invitation to dive deeper into the heart of this incredible country.

We stood in awe at Teotihuacán, walking the same paths as ancient civilizations who built these towering pyramids with their hands, carrying stones up steep inclines to honor their gods. Looking out from the Pyramid of the Sun, you feel the weight of history and the connection to a people who understood the power of the earth and the heavens.

We visited the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, where faith pulses in every brick. In December, thousands of people make a pilgrimage to this sacred site—some traveling by foot for days—to honor the Virgin of Guadalupe. Witnessing their devotion, the deep love and reverence of a community united in belief, was profoundly moving.

Then there was Xochimilco, with its riot of colors, floating trajineras (boats), and the sounds of mariachi echoing across the canals. It’s a joyous celebration of life, history, and Mexican culture, a reminder to embrace every moment with vibrancy and passion.

But perhaps the most soul-stirring stop was La Casa Azul, Frida Kahlo’s iconic blue house in Coyoacán. It’s more than a museum; it’s a deeply personal glimpse into the life of a woman who poured her pain, passion, and identity into her art.

If your vision of Mexico ends with beaches and margaritas, I urge you to step beyond the waves.

Let its culture, history, and spirit captivate you in ways you never imagined.

This is Mexico, unfiltered and unforgettable.

Wait - didn’t you just return from Mexico?

Yes…yes I did lol

But this is something completely different.

Tomorrow, I’m heading to Mexico City for the first time.

My dad often reminisced about the vibrant colors, lively markets, and incredible street food from his first trip there as a little boy on a road trip with my grandfather. It was a place I wish we had had a chance to explore together.

A city rich in history, cultural, and incredible food, I can’t wait to show you something outside the normal “sun and sand” type of Mexico trips.

Did you know Mexico City was built on the ancient Aztec city of Tenochtitlán and sinks about 10 inches every year because it’s built on a lake? It’s also home to over 150 museums, making it a dream for any culture lover.

Can’t wait to explore! 🇲🇽 and thanks to and for putting together this FAM 💜
