👯‍♀️Meet Pam Rausch aka Pamtastic!

✈️Pam has been with the House of Travel team for more than 20 years, first as our agency’s manager. Today, she designs vacations for clients who are drawn to her spunky personality and deep care for the client experience. Pam can truly book it all for her travelers, but she focuses on Fun n’ Sun escapes to Mexico and the Caribbean, destination weddings and group travel, and guided tours to Europe.

🌴Pam is a Top 50 advisor with ALG Vacations, a status earned through her dedication to building client relationships and extensive travel industry knowledge. In fact, Pam has always worked within the travel industry; before joining HoT, she built a career at United Airlines. Outside of HoT, Pam enjoys cheering on her nephew’s football team, watching Iowa Hawkeyes women's basketball, and boating on the water.

Hi, I’m Melissa Engel!
Owner of House of Travel

I’ve been lucky enough to be surrounded by travel my whole life. My mom, Mary Jo Klinkhammer, has been a travel advisor working with HoT for 45+ years, and I grew up “shadowing” her whenever I could. In fact, she bought House of Travel in 2001, and that’s around the time I got my professional start in travel too—my first job at HoT was filing client invoices! Eventually, I traded in that tedious task and began designing travel experiences as a part of the HoT team. In 2022, in a full-circle moment, I bought HoT from my mom and stepped into the role of agency owner.

Today, I’m proud of all that House of Travel stands for. We’re a family-owned business—and we’re lucky that that “family” has extended to the longtime, repeat clients who’ve been with us for years. We’re a woman-owned business, and it thrills me that my own daughter (welcomed in 2024!) will grow up in the same can-do environment I did. And, we’ve built incredible relationships over the decades with travel partners we trust—in practically every corner of the globe.

What a win for the Iowa Women's Basketball team!

Our biggest Hawkeye Fan and Melissa’s (new owner’s) daughter (and Jo’s Grand daughter); Eloise was born at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital in July! She was born a Hawkeye!

In celebration of the big win against LSU tonight House of Travel will donate a portion of tomorrow’s sales to support the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital!
