PSA: Planned Power Outage
Garkane Energy will have a planned 2 hour power outage starting at midnight tonight, July 20th, and should conclude by 2 am Friday morning. The outage will affect Kane County, Garfield County, and Fredonia. Please plan accordingly.

EDIT - HWY 14 is now OPEN

So this happened, literally right in front of us, & two other vehicles, on the way down the 14 this morning, between Duck Creek Village & Cedar City, approx 6:42 AM. The 14 was immediately closed in both directions within 5 mins of the slide. The slide is at approx mile marker 7. CRAZY! Road is closed at approx mile marker 5 on the low side, & mile marker 18 (Brianhead turn) up top. The earth was still movin’ & shakin’ the whole time we were there (which wasn’t long), turned around & headed back up the mtn. Be careful in your travels!!

Power Outages

Garkane is reporting a widespread power outage affecting Kane and Garfield Counties and Fredonia Arizona. Crews are working on it but they do not have an estimated time when it will be fixed. If you are in danger because of the cold or need electricity for a medical device, please contact Kane County Dispatch 435-644-2349. Please don't call dispatch to ask about the power outage. We will update you when we have more information.

This is a message from Kane County's Emergency Notification System

A winter storm warning is in effect from 5pm Saturday to 5am Monday. This is a significant storm event that could bring up to 3 feet of snow to Cedar Mountain. The current conditions are very wet and could lead to power outages. Make sure you are prepared to potentially be snowbound for a day or two. It takes time to clear the snow so please be patient. If your plans are not flexible, you may want to depart before the storm.
All cars must be removed from the roadways immediately. If you cannot safely park your car in your driveway or parking area, please move it to the designated parking areas off highway 14 located at the entrances of Swains, Strawberry, and Mammoth Creek Road. Cars left on the road risk being ticketed or towed. They are safety hazards for the crews plowing snow and could sustain damage if left on the roads. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Happy New Year.
