14 1/2 hours of spring cleaning and The Scotts’ SandBar is officially ready for rental season. A few weeks still available in June and August.

After renovating the 1/2 bath in 2019, the master bath in 2021; we decided to renovate the guest bathroom in 2022.

Cosmetic upgrades are always fun! December 2021 we updated the cushions on the outdoor furniture. A few other pictures of some fun items we have added inside as well.

We enjoy catching up on our reading when we’re at the beach. Most of our books go into the SandBar library in the master bedroom. If you don’t finish your book before the end of your stay, please take it with you because we will be adding more!

A busy and productive weekend of spring cleaning at the Scott’s’ SandBar. Our first renters for the 2024 season arrive today. Available weeks in April, May and one week in August.

Spring is such a beautful time at the beach. Great weather and no crowds!☀️🏖️🐚

We decided popcorn is great for the movies but it was time to start removing it from the ceilings at The Scotts’ SandBar. The popcorn came down and was replaced with knockout. We did a few additional cosmetic updates at the same time - replaced the fluorescent kitchen lights with LED can lights and upgraded the main level ceiling vents as well.

Punxsutawney Phil has declared an early spring for 2024!!! The Scott’s’ SandBar opens for rental season the week of March 24th. Book now to enjoy a beautiful spring week in Duck.

January 2021 - Master Bathroom renovation. We ventured upstairs for our first big project. The bathroom was completely renovated. This was a big cosmetic improvement and it turned out amazing - including the barn door!

Kitchen Backsplash Project - October 2020

With guidance and lots of patience, our great friend Pete Nelson helped us add a beautiful backsplash in the kitchen. This project took one weekend to complete and certainly made the kitchen look totally different.

Summer 2020 updates…..

Non-resident owners were allowed to return to the Outer Banks in May 2020 after COVID locked down travel for several weeks.

While we were there in May, we purchased high top chairs for the Juliet deck from the Hardware Store in Duck.

When we returned to the SandBar in August, we updated the light over the dining room table.

It’s been so much fun little by little making changes to the townhouse.

March 2020 - TV and furniture refresh…. We made a quick recovery from the bad 4 letter word “IKEA” and purchased a new TV stand for the living area. ( we purchased the TV in January but it was just a tad too big for the existing TV stand)

Assembly on the tv stand progressed without any problems and we were all ready for a weekend of watching the ACC tournament AND…….right before our eyes, the tournament was cancelled and the world as we knew it as normal was no more. COVID was declared a pandemic. We returned home and waited patiently until non-resident owners were allowed to return to the beach in May.

Renovation Project- February 2020:

We replaced the twin beds with new beds from IKEA. When you open the box and see a 20 page assembly guide….that never ends well!! After we finished assembly of the beds; Ed added “IKEA” as a new *4 letter word*). My mother in law is very talented and was kind enough to make us a matching curtain and personalized pillows to complete the room refresh.

Since we purchased the Scotts’ SandBar in 2019, we have prided ourselves in making updates to the townhouse; one step at a time. Full transparency, most updates have been made by paid professionals but we’ve attempted to do a few things on our own.

I will share several posts on upgrades we have made since owning.

Renovation project - November 2019. Updated 1st floor powder room with new vanity, toilet, mirror, paint and lots of new decor. Thanksgiving weekend was spent painting and removing wall paper!

Out with the old- in with the new!
