Hi Folks. Whisky Tour of the World bottles 17 & 18 is live. Whiskies from Israel & France plus a discussion of the subtleties of aging Whisky.
And we almost froze our patooties off (and everything else) for this one trying to get some footage of the train. 😂 🥶 Also, it was so cold my (Sara) microphone died part way though the tasting. Sigh. Oh well, it was still fun. Cheers!

Hey Everyone - Whisky Tour of the World video review of bottles 13 & 14 is live. We taste an English Whisky, Fielden - a rye whisky, and a Mexican Whisky, Abasolo, made of heritage Mexican corn grown at elevation. They've processed their corn in ways that give health benefits to humans (adds niacin). We are also saying goodbye to our beautiful old stump. We enjoyed its character for many years, but it blew over recently in a big wind. Thankfully, we were able to repurpose the stump into a new garden. We'll see what next year's growth brings. Hey Everyone - Whisky Tour of the World video review of bottles 11 & 12 is live. We taste the Austrian whisky, Krauss (not available in the US), and the New Zealand whisky, Pokeno. This one is quite special because they only use the middle 20% of the distilled alcohol. Essentially, they are using the heart of the heart. Very smooth! For this episode we battled the wind, drove to Moose Mountain, and then did our tasting at the Lester River. (We also lost some trees at home.) Enjoy your tasting! Hey Everyone - Whisky Tour of the World video review of bottles 7&8 is live! Great lesson by David Devere on Dr. Jim Swan: whisky chemist, artist, and influencer. We can thank him for the variety of oak barrels used in whisky-making. The was quite smoky, but the single malt whisky whisked the smoke away on first taste, while finishing quite peppery. We had a great time tasting these while enjoying the views of Split Rock Lighthouse on Lake Superior. Cheers!

Hey Everyone - Whisky Tour of the World has begun! Our first whisky tasting video just went live. We feature beautiful fall color around Duluth and whiskies #1 & #2 (contrast-compare): Black Whisky from Peru and Mc'Nean from Scotland. Both of these Whiskies are produced by small independent distillers. Both are using unique processes to produce a very fine spirit. Hi Everyone - We're going to make a couple things official.
1) We are not reviewing / tasting the Costco Wine Advent box this year.
2) We ARE reviewing / tasting the Costco Whisky Tour of the World. The design is amazing, the selection looks very interesting, and it includes 24 Whiskies from around the world.

Most of these whiskies are from independent, small producers and their product is available at some liquor stores if you find a few you would like to buy again.

Part 4 of the Route du Moulin: In this episode we travel from Gondrexange to Nancy on the Canal de la Marne au Rhin. We stop in to visit the little bakery of L' Ami du Pain owned by Jean Cline, spend a night at the marina in Einville-au-Jard and take in the impressive canal side factories at Dombasle-sur-Meurthe. Part 3 of the Route du Moulin: Canal scenes and a tour of the Mittersheim marina on the Canal de la Sarre. We travel from Sarralbe to Mittersheim on the Canal de La Sarre and exit at the junction with the Canal de la Marne au Rhin. Distance from Sarralbe to Mittersheim is about 21km and up 6 locks (this took one day).
