Carrie Steele Logan: A ‘Mother’ to Atlanta’s Orphans...
Looking at the simple brick cottages that make up the Carrie Steele-Pitts Home at 667 Fairburn Road, one would never know that the organization situated there is the oldest Black orphanage in the United States or the incredible story of its selfless founder, Carrie Steele Logan. Today, the Carrie Steele-Pitts Home houses 30 full-time residents and has housed thousands of children throughout its 130-year history. Carrie Steele Logan was buried in Oakland Cemetery after her death. Her headstone reads: “The Mother of Orphans. She has done what she could.” The Georgia Women of Achievement officially recognized Logan in 1998, inducting her into the organization.-- https://lnkd.in/d6kuWQK3

On this Giving Tuesday, we ask that you consider making a donation, of any amount, to support a great cause. Champions Medal Foundation is raising funds in support of the following areas:
- Our beloved Elderly Community - 26% of those seniors living in Georgia are living alone. Our goal is to provide them with toiletries, food, blankets, clothing, and companionship.
- Reducing food insecurity in Georgia. In Georgia, 1,279,310 people are facing hunger - and of them 377,400 are children.
- Financial assistance to provide day care services and meals for young adults with developmental disabilities who have aged out of school.
