As a travel agent that specializes in Disney vacations, I am often asked the same two questions:
“Is Disney worth the money?” and “What is the best age to go to Disney?”
I wanted to take a moment to share my response in case any of you have the same questions.
Here is my reply:
On my first trip to Disney, I was 11 years old and my sisters were 14 and 17. It was also my parents’ first trip, they were 41 and 42.
My second trip to Disney was my husband’s first time. He was 34 years old.
My boys had their first trips at 7 years, 17 mos., 14 mos. and 3 mos. of age. The excitement, amazement and magic is just incredible, regardless of your age. (To be fair, the 3-month-old would have been amazed at his own foot at that age, but you get the point.)
Everyone’s budget is different and everyone’s list of “must do/see” is different. This is one of the many reasons why using an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner is such a great idea. I can help you choose the options that are best for your family and budget, so you can get the most out of your Disney vacation. At Enchanted Memories Travel, our services are always free. How’s that for budget friendly?
I have stayed in every resort category and have used every category of meal plan. I have rented a car and I have used Disney’s Magical Express. I have done character meals, I have made reservations for 2 meals a day and I have gone without making any dining reservations and just winged it. While the convenience and/or amenities may vary, the actual heart of the Disney experience is always the same.
Trust me when I say that wherever you stay and whatever your age, it will all be worth it. The moment you walk through those gates, it’s as if you can actually feel the magic that is Disney and that is when it will all make sense. The months of planning, Googling, decision making, and the always dreaded packing will be a faint memory.
Those who wonder if they should wait until their child/children are old enough to remember or appreciate Disney World, my response to you is this:
If you think that your child is too young to remember their trip, keep in mind that YOU will remember. Family vacation memories are not made exclusively for your children, they are made for you as well.
Every time one of my boys looks at or asks about one of the many photos we have from our trips to Disney, we tell them all about it and get to relive that vacation and that time in our lives while we share all our special family memories.
For those who say, “My kids are all older, I missed my window, it’s now too late.”, my response is this: It’s never too late! The magic of Disney is equally awesome at any age. One of the cool things about taking your children when they are tweens/teens/young adults is you will ALL have amazing memories that will stay with you forever. They will then share those memories with their children and one day want to take their children to Disney to experience the magic, just as you took them.
So, is it worth it? Absolutely! Is there a perfect age to visit Disney? Every age is the perfect age!
One very important piece of advice that I like to give all my Disney clients is this: Between all the plans, schedules and reservations, once you get there make sure you take a few moments every day to just stop, look around and take it all in. Don’t be surprised if there are more than a couple of happy tears, especially when you walk into the Magic Kingdom for the first time and finally get to see Main Street USA and Cinderella’s Castle in person. That magical feeling can seem overwhelming but take a deep breath and absorb it all because Disney isn’t just a theme park, it’s a feeling. A feeling of magic, wonder, excitement and enchantment all rolled up together in a place that will make you believe that dreams really do come true. A feeling that will leave a permanent mark on you and one that stays with you long after you leave Orlando.
There’s a reason it’s called “The Happiest Place on Earth”.
