𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗺𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱…
We’re itching to ride just as badly as you! We have about 4” of snow on the ground which is barely enough to pan/compact. The bigger issue is the swamps and wetlands. We have a lot of these areas across our trail system that we’re monitoring closely as they refreeze and allow us to set up a base that is going to last. Crews have been out multiple times breaking things up. We are checking all areas again this weekend. Once we know we can get groomers through these critical areas, we will be out panning (or rolling) the system. Our roller requires a minimum snow depth to work effectively and prevent damage. Without that frozen base, the trails will be in awful condition and unsafe very quickly.
We are monitoring the incoming storm system closely. Today’s short-range model guidance indicates the potential for a significant storm, but we will anxiously wait and see what happens. 𝘒𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨!
Remember, ALL of the Northwoods Snowmobile Clubs are doing everything possible to be ready to open the trails as soon as possible. Be patient. We’re all frustrated with the season so far, but that’s no reason to be posting negatively towards any organization and trolling pages with stupid comments. Be an ambassador of the sport and the community. More updates to come! 🦅
