Today we celebrate the birthday of Mercy Otis Warren, born on September 28, 1728, in Barnstable! In a time when women rarely had formal education, this Cape Cod woman defied the norm, studying alongside her brothers and becoming a prolific writer and revolutionary figure.

DID YOU KNOW? Mercy Otis Warren held a crucial position within the American independence movement. She provided guidance and exchanged letters with prominent figures such as Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and John Adams.

🏛️ Today, on the front steps of Barnstable County Superior Courthouse, statues of both Mercy Otis Warren and her brother James Otis stand proudly, a testament to their enduring legacy in Cape Cod's rich history. Cape Cod history is truly awe-inspiring! Happy Birthday, Mercy Otis Warren! 🎂📜

The Master Gardeners of Cape Cod are showcasing 6 unique gardens to visitors in celebration of the Visit Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival! Garden tours will be held rain or shine from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the festival dates of July 7th-16th. Admission is $5.00 per garden and cash only.
