Lime Kiln Point State Park:

NEW 'Submarine Shuttle Service' in the works for the San Juan Islands! The images depict the final design proposals for the inaugural submarine, set to be christened "The Orca Voyager". Which design gets your vote?

In an innovative step towards revolutionizing travel in the San Juan Islands, SalishSea Transit Inc. plans to launch an unprecedented interisland submarine shuttle service. This groundbreaking initiative offers travelers a unique alternative to traditional air and sea travel, while providing an unforgettable underwater experience.

If approved, "The Orca Voyager" passenger submarine will be designed to have comfortable seating and panoramic windows for an unparalleled view of the depths of the Salish Sea. The journey will be competitively timed with traditional ferry services, but with the added benefit of avoiding surface weather conditions and providing a scenic underwater route. Safety is a top priority, with the submarine equipped with the latest navigation and emergency systems, ensuring a safe passage through the Salish Sea.

Pricing for the submarine service is set to be on par with higher-end private transportation services, making it an attractive option for tourists and locals alike. The introduction of the submarine shuttle has garnered positive reactions from both the tourism industry and environmental groups.
