Recent cancelation - enjoy a week at the SC Coast on Edisto Oct 21-27 at a deep discount. Or enjoy low off-season prices with lots of availability November through January. Winter months on Edisto are awesome - peaceful, pleasant beach walks with few people around, good eats.

Spontaneous get-away Oct 3-8 reduced price. Lots of availability then in November through January with reduced, off-season rates. Enjoy empty beaches, cool walks and beachcombing, good seafood in noncrowded restaurants, fishing, and great sunsets. https://www.houfy.com/20970

Back on Edisto to see how we fared over the 2024 summer season. Pretty good. Some re-arranging of things, but house looks great. I'm very happy with Sarah Hoggard's crew who have handled the cleans.
A couple requests for any guests who happen to see this. If you accidentally break something - it happens. No problem. But PLEASE tell us. If you don't, that means all the next guests have to do without until we come and discover it. Same thing if you accidentally take something home. We got here and the oven mitt, hot pads, dish towels, and dish clothes were all gone. A kitchen drain cover is missing. No big deal, but had we known we could have replaced them. As it is, who knows how many guests were here without those basic supplies. Just let us know - we can order them and the cleaning crew will replace them. It's not fair or kind to future guests if you don't let us know when something is broken or lost.

Our current guest sent me this photo of the house on the corner of Laroche and Palmetto, two blocks toward the ocean and one down. It appears we got off unscathed, but still lots of water everywhere and more rain and higher than normal tides expected. McConkey's Jungle Shack had severe damage.

Word from our guests is that Chaika House is fine. Lots of flooding across the island and lots of trees down and power lines affected. Amazingly they restored power within the day. They're were at least two tornados that touched down and did major damage. A house on the corner of Laroche and Palmetto was hit - that's just one street over from us. McConkey's Jungle Shack was severely damaged.

Schedule a break this fall, winter, or spring for great off-season prices. Edisto is lovely year round. Or get a week set aside next summer before the weeks book up. We're only a 7-minute walk to the beach, tucked away from traffic, and all but guaranteed deer sightings in our yard and the empty field next door. 4 bdr, 2 bath - easily holds up to 10 people. Pet friendly for an additional charge. This is one of the lower priced houses in the beach area.

As we pass the half-way point of summer 2024, it's a good time to think about some time by the coast this Fall or Winter. Crowds are way down, as are prices, yet the weather can be great for walks, beachcombing, biking, or day trips to tour the area. Question out of curiosity. Do you have a preference for the Saturday check-in/check out pattern we follow, as opposed to Friday or Sunday? If so, why and would a change be a dealbreaker? No plans to change, but I'm curious. I'm sure the cleaning crew would love more houses not to land on Saturdays.
Of course, in the off-season (mid-August till mid-May) we offer flexible check-in/check out days as well as lengths of stay.

Chaika guests have enjoyed the coastal art in Chaika on the bedroom doors, framed prints, and the epic octopus on the outdoor shower. The artist, my niece Melissa Rinaldi, painted one of the 10 turtle statues unveiled yesterday by Edisto Chamber of Commerce. They will be placed around town for the summer, so if you visit, see if you can spot them all. We are proud that our own was one of the artists! Melissa's family are annual guests at Chaika House.

Edisto is a great place for fossils. This was an epic find that just got reported.
