Juneteenth is an annual holiday celebrated on June 19th in the United States of America, commemorating the dat slavery came to its end for the many slave rich states. It marks the day when Union Army General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, in 1865, and informed enslaved African Americans that the Civil War had ended and they were free. This occurred two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation by President Abraham Lincoln.
Juneteenth is also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, or Emancipation Day and is recognized as a state holiday or ceremonial holiday in 47 states and the District of Columbia.
Charleston was only created to Break and Sell Slave$ wholesale, and was called the Cradle of Slavery. Today Slavery is a terrible history of our painful past that we must always remember but today is about our Freedom.
