ISHN reports that the U.S. Department of Labor's MSHA is offering $10.5 million in grants for mine safety training in 2024. These funds will support federally required training for miners at surface and underground coal, metal, and nonmetal mines.

To address increasing heat-related workplace illnesses and fatalities, AIHA - American Industrial Hygiene Association - and ACGIH® members teamed up to develop and are currently testing the beta version of the AIHA Heat Stress Mobile App. The new app combines real-time and forecasted WBGT data with a user-friendly design to simplify WBGT data for all levels and improve upon the 2017 OSHA and NIOSH Heat Safety Tool and the commonly used Heat Index. Expect the AIHA Heat Stress Mobile App to be released in July.
