It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the postponement of our upcoming September event. Ean has been diagnosed with several blood clots in his arm and legs, the issue can be life threatening and it will take between 4-6 months for the clots to break down. We have been in contact with the venue as well as with our guests and are looking for alternate dates to do the con. We now hope to do it between Nov-Feb. Thank you for your understanding and make no mistake we will be back.

Sun City Comic Con featured guest Eddie Nunez has just had the animated series he’s working on picked up by Netflix! It’s Netflix’s first original anime series set in Mexico. Congratulations Eddie! We’re very much looking forward to asking him more about it in September.

Thanks to everyone who came out to Star Wars night at The Pizza Joint last night! We had a full house almost all night! Sorry for those of you who couldn’t make it due to the parking downtown. There were other events going on it was ridiculous.

Big thank you to The Pizza Joint for letting us host the event! Also thanks to the El Paso Young Ghostbusters, Merc and Hazardous Entertainment for helping to make this event great!

Very sad to hear that Verne Troyer has passed away. Many of you may remember meeting him at one of SCS past events. He was a kind individual and will be missed.

It is with great sadness and incredibly heavy hearts to write that
Verne passed away today.

Verne was an extremely caring individual. He wanted to make everyone
smile, be happy, and laugh. Anybody in need, he would help to any
extent possible. Verne hoped he made a positive change with the
platform he had and worked towards spreading that message everyday.

He inspired people around the world with his drive, determination, and
attitude. On film & television sets, commercial shoots, at comic-con’s
& personal appearances, to his own YouTube videos, he was there to
show everyone what he was capable of doing. Even though his stature
was small and his parents often wondered if he’d be able to reach up
and open doors on his own in his life, he went on to open more doors
for himself and others than anyone could have imagined. He also
touched more peoples hearts than he will ever know.

Verne was also a fighter when it came to his own battles. Over the
years he’s struggled and won, struggled and won, struggled and fought
some more, but unfortunately this time was too much.

During this recent time of adversity he was baptized while surrounded
by his family. The family appreciates that they have this time to
grieve privately.

Depression and Su***de are very serious issues. You never know what
kind of battle someone is going through inside. Be kind to one
another. And always know, it’s never too late to reach out to someone
for help.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation in Verne’s
name to either of his two favorite charities; The Starkey Hearing
Foundation and Best Buddies.

Who is ready to get nostalgic? We will be running an original Star Wars Battlefront 2 tournament on PlayStation 2 during Star Wars night at The Pizza Joint. We will have some free play if time allows. Get excited people, May 4th is right around the corner!

We are very excited to announce our next event, Sun City Comic Con featuring special guest Eddie Nunez (DC comics/WildStorm)! The event will take place Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 11am-7pm.

We are in the process of finalizing the deal with the venue, so as soon as it’s done we will be announcing that info as well. Make sure to keep an eye out for updates as the event gets closer.

Eddie Nunez was born and raised in El Paso, Tx. He got hired to work and relocate to sunny San Diego for Wildstorm/ DC in 2008. Most of Eddie's time was spent working on the DC Universe Online doing concept design and artwork for in game cut scenes. He also did design work for the Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters video game. Some of Eddie's comic credits include working on Lois Lane and the Resistance, Deadpool, Batman/ TMNT, Nickelodeons Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ben 10 and Legendary's World of Worldcraft.

Rest In Peace Mr. Hawking! We truly have lost one of the great minds of our time.

Physicist Stephen Hawking [1942-2018] One of the world's greatest scientists and finest minds, Professor Hawking, has died at the age of 76.

The physicist and author of "A Brief History of Time" died peacefully at his home in Cambridge early on Wednesday afternoon. In a statement Professor Hawking's children, Lucy, Robert and Tim said: "We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today.

"He was a great scientist and an extraordinary man whose work and legacy will live on for many years. 🖖
