The morning is sold out, but the afternoon ride will be another great way to celebrate America and thank our veterans for their service. It's another beautiful spring day here in Northeast Oregon! Bright sunshine mixed with clouds. Birds singing and frogs out in force at dusk. The grass is greening, creeks are flowing and snow-capped peaks stand guard above the awakening valleys. Just think about it! You can enjoy all of this natural wonder from the comfort of a vintage train, as it rumbles along beside the Grande Ronde and Wallowa rivers! Train volunteers and the track crew are busy getting the equipment and track ready for the start of the 2024 season, which begins May 8, and really gets rolling with the popular Mother's Day Brunch, May 12. Wow! Summer is flying by and we are having a great season of train rides. We only have three rides left until our late summer break. There are seats available for the rides on July 22, July 26, and August 2. Then we take a break through the rest of August and get going again September 2. So, if a ride on the Eagle Cap Excursion Train is on your bucket list for this summer, click on "Ride the Train" on the main menu, then "Trip Descriptions" on the drop-down, to see what is coming up. Then go to "Book Online" and follow the prompts to make your reservations.

The Friends of the Joseph Branch are busy getting the train ready for the new season of scenic rides along the Wallowa Union Railroad (the historic Joseph Branch). We are celebrating 20 years of providing train rides along the beautiful Grande Ronde and Wallowa Rivers in the northeast corner of Oregon. We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and the holiday season continues to bring happiness. We are working on the 2023 schedule for the excursion train and will announce it in late January. as is typical, the season will start with the Mother's Day Brunch and will continue through October. Mother's Day Brunch reservations will be available beginning the first of February. Keep an eye on the website for further news.

The Eagle Cap Excursion Train finished the 2022 season with a wonderful ride on October 23. The fall colors were beautiful and the passengers made the whole trip a joy for our volunteer hosts and crew. Our 2021 season ends tomorrow. We are grateful to our passengers and volunteers for making a challenging season into a rewarding one. We're hopeful for a fun and successful 2022 season and look forward to announcing our new schedule in February. If you live in Union or Wallowa Counties, please tell your county commissioners you appreciate their support for the train. It takes all of us to make this excursion train a success!
