Roll with it.

We showed up in Khunotswane, South Africa and had planned on a beautiful sunrise and letting the sun drive our shots for the day. Instead, we got a rainy day and had to pivot to film in the rain, and indoors. It resulted in one of our favorite days of our whole trip. I'll be sharing a handful of images from our time with Pastor Obakeng this week, and his full video later this week.

Overwhelmed.

This was one of those images that seems like nothing until you get into editing / color grading. The concept for this project was to tell the story of how 4 pastors weathered the storm of Covid in their respective communities, and this shot ended up having so much emotion behind it, at least for me.

Covid Challenges were real.

This was one of my first indoor shoots since the start of the pandemic, and the number of extra precautions and concerns leading a team for 2 full days of filming was pretty exhausting. But the crew was awesome, and we had a blast filming and learning about how this delicious candy is made.

We've loved working with over the last year or so to help develop some short promotional pieces they can use in their store lobby as well as on their website and sending out to clients. I hadn't planned on taking up the but when I got there after an early morning drive, the sunrise was just too good! Cello old friends!

When we filmed for back in March, we did 5 small segments as a virtual 'show and tell' for the students who weren't able to get their hands on the instruments. We had less than 2 hours to set up and film all of this becuase another group had the location booked.

The principal Cellist was kind enough to give us some beautiful samples of his favorite music to play on his instrument, and we're hoping it enticed some 5th and 6th graders to pick one up this year!

A little behind the scenes...

Last March we got a last minute call from (Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra) to film a virtual concert and explanation of instruments for elementary school students. We had a week to pull toghether gear and a concept for an hour long piece. It was a lot of fun, and a HUGE challenge, but we're looking forward to partnering with EYSO again in the future and really getting a chance to plan and create. Nonetheless, we're pumped with what we were able to create for them.

This is our Creative Director and one of our favorite guys to bring in to make things look pretty and provide a wealth of technical expertise.
