Early this evening, we had the honor of meeting a remarkable visitor, Peter Frank - a great adventurer on a life-changing journey. Peter is canoeing the 6,000 - mile Great Loop as an expression of gratitude for being alive after surviving a near fatal car accident almost 10 years ago.

When Peter arrived at Waterfront Park in his canoe, he said a gentleman in a truck approached him and asked if Peter had a place to stay for the night. Peter replied he did and curious how the gentleman knew about him, Peter asked the gentleman how he knew who he was. Peter said the gentleman told him he didn't know who he was but he saw him canoeing and thought he may need a place to stay for the night and offered a vacant houseboat to him.

Peter told us Elizabeth City is truly the Harbor of Hospitality!

Safe travels, Peter!

Start Your Adventure Here

Welcome to the Harbor of Hospitality!

We invite you to visit our little home located on the shores of the broad and picturesque Pasquotank River. If you are looking for a friendly and laid-back destination, we might be what you are looking for. You will most likely leave here having made a new friend or two.

What will you find when you visit? Cypress trees rising from our waterways, Blackbeard’s cannon in the Museum of the Albemarle, four neighboring state parks, ghosts of the underground railroad, and one of the best sailing breezes on the east coast.

Over the centuries, our destination has served as a starting point for explorers and adventurers such as the Wright brothers because of our central location on the coast.
