Due to health issues, we did not have any trips last year, but now that I am on the mend, we are looking at trips for 2025. Our 1st confirmed trip for 2025 will be for the 4th of July fireworks in NYC! For details and to register for the trip go to https://getupandgotravel.us/nyc-4th-of-july . The tentative plans are as follows:

07/04/2025 Bus will leave Elkview, WV promptly at 6:00 AM. Please be at the lot by 5:30 AM. Pickup location will be Mt Pleasant Baptist Church parking lot. 58 Mount Pleasant Drive, Elkview WV 25071

07/04/2025 Bus will have additional pickups at Walmart, Clarksburg, WV at approx. 8:30 AM. Please be at the lot by 7:30 AM. Pickup location will be at the Walmart parking lot, Section close to the road & Burger King. 550 Emily Dr, Clarksburg, WV 26301. Possible driver switch for the bus.

07/04/2025 Lunch Stop – Valley Mall 17301 Valley Mall Rd, Hagerstown, MD 21740 approx. 11:30 AM (1 Hour). Food court and restaurants to choose from. Lunch on your own.

07/04/2025 Bus will stop at Love's Travel Stop, 3700 Mountain Rd, Hamburg, PA 19526 at approx. 2:45 PM for a rest room break (30 minutes)

07/04/2025 Bus should arrive at approximately 5:30 PM in NYC at our hotel. Hotel will be Hilton Garden Inn NYC Financial Center/Manhattan Downtown . Check into your room and experience NYC that evening and the fireworks. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to FDR Drive along the East River to view the fireworks.

07/05/2025 Enjoy the day in the Big Apple. You can check out at any time you wish, as long as it is before the posted check out time of 11:00 AM. The hotel will store your bags until we leave that evening. Enjoy another day in NYC. We will meet back at the hotel at 9:30 to begin loading the bus for departure home at 10:00PM. Bus will depart promptly at 10:00 PM. Sleep on the bus.

07/06/2025 Scheduled Rest/Safety Break Bus will stop at I-81 South Rest Stop - Grantville PA, 325 Shells Church Rd, Grantville, PA 17028 at approx. 1:00 AM. (30 minutes)

07/06/2025 Scheduled Rest/Safety Break Bus will stop at I-68 West Welcome Center Rest Stop at approc. 5:00 AM (30 Minutes)

07/06/2025 Drop off in Clarksburg Walmart at approx. 6:45 AM.

07/06/2025 Final Drop off in Elkview at approximately 9:00 AM.

Well now that my cancer treatments are done and I am in remission, I am starting to look at trips for next year. A couple that we are looking at are the following:

Cherry Blossom Festival April 5-6 2025
Tentatively leave at 6:30 am on Saturday April 5th from Elkview, and arrive in Washington DC at approxiamately 1 pm. We will leave our bags at the hotel and spend the day enjoying the Cherry Blossom Festival before returning to the TBD hotel to check in and spend the night. On Sunday, the checkout time will be determined and we can leave our bags there and enjoy more of what Washington DC has to offer. We will board the bus at the hotel at 4:30 pm to return home and get back to Elkview at approxiamately 11:00 pm. Pricing, hotel name, and pickup locations will be determined shortly.

NYC July 4th Fireworks July 4-6 2025
Tentatively leave at 6 am on Friday July 4th from Elkview. We will have a lunch stop in Hagerstown MD around 11:30 am and arrive at the hotel at approxiamately 5:30 pm to check into the TBD hotel. Enjoy the fireworks that night! On Saturday morning, the checkout time will be determined and we can leave our bags there and enjoy more of what the Big Apple has to offer. We will board the bus at the hotel at 10:00 pm to return home and get back to Elkview at approxiamately 8:00 am. Pricing, hotel name, and pickup locations will be determined shortly.

These are just a couple of the trips we are looking at for next year, and of course we will have our December trip to NYC as well. If you think you would be interested in either of these, please comment below and with your preference of pick up spots between Elkview, Clarksburg, or Parkersburg.

We received the refund from the bus company and have sent the refunds through Square. All but 2 are pending. Square requires that refunds go back to the card used for purchasing and 2 of them were rejected. They have been notified and what steps are needed to get their refund. Again, I am sorry that we had to cancel, but next year we will be back!!

Well, as much as I hate to do it, I have cancelled the bus trip to NYC for the Macy’s parade. We started out fast out of the gates, but only had 6 people join over the last 2 months. I thought about waiting and hoping that we would get more as we get closer, but I couldn’t take the risk. I already lose a chunk of the 50% deposit for the bus and couldn’t risk losing more. The bus company said they will be sending my my deposit back, less the cancellation fee next week. Once I receive it, I will go into square and issue everyone their payments back. Sorry and I look forward to working on trips for next year!

As much as I hate to do it, it looks like the NYC Macy's trip will be cancelled. We are still about 15 people short to reach the minimum number required. On August 10th, if we do not get the required number of passengers, I will notify the bus company & hotel to cancel. At that time, they will start the process to refund my deposit. Once I get the deposit sent back to me, I will refund eveyones payments back to them. I really was looking foward to this trip and had high expectations, especially since I had 41 people request the contract. I feel responsible for part of this since I could not promote it like I normally do each year due to my health, but rest assured, we will be back strong next year and hopefully have a few additional trips to other locations as well. Stay tuned!!

We are a little over a month away from the deadline to have the minimum number of passengers for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade bus trip. I really don’t want to have to cancel the trip, but we are about 20 short of the minimum. I have several people who have requested the registration form but have not turned it in. Please share and let’s get this bus full.
