That's a wrap! My 2024 U.S. Forest Service-Superior National Forest wildlife and history season came to a close today. I had a great group, and it was a great way to cap off one heck of a season. What a great day for one of my guided U.S. Forest Service-Superior National Forest wildlife and history tours. Today's customers have been searching the area for years hoping to see a moose. Today I was able to make that a reality. These two large bulls were hot on the trail of a cow. It's the time of year where these guys were likely not on the best terms as they are both looking for love. I am a federally licensed and insured guide with many years of experience. I had a private trip with a repeat customer today that really wanted to see a moose. It wasn't standing in the best light, but she was over the moon to see it. This was my 15th moose in 15 calendar days. We also saw a wolf, cranes, eagle and much more. www.ericshermanimages.com

This morning was a terrific day for terrible photography. My morning included 5 more moose, but none of them gave me more than 5-10 seconds to react, stop, get the camera up and get a decent photo. Sometimes that's just the way it goes. Mom and her 2 calves were definitely the highlight of the 10 moose I have seen in the last 7 days though. www.ericshermanimages.com

It took all 3 days of the long weekend, but the moose finally made an appearance this morning. Three different sightings including one with a collar. It's nice that all three presented photo opportunities. It's a great time to be out in the woods. Dozens of sets of moose tracks, but no moose today on the 1st guide trip of the year. My customers still had a great time though. There were plenty of other things around today including upwards of 40 grouse, swans, ducks, geese, loons, an eagle, a rabbit being chased by a fisher and much more. It was another great day in the woods. Today's fun included my 1st Canada Lynx sighting of the year. I saw and photographed more than a dozen of them in 2023. I hope 2024 is the same. My Superior National Forest wildlife adventure trips will be starting up again in the spring. Today's Lynx was along one of the routes we take.
