I think it’s extremely important to vacation with people you are “vacation compatible” with. EVERYONE is not the “travel friend” and that is okay!

The hubs and I have a group we travel with and they are so fun. We are good at not expecting everyone to do everything so we still get our own vacation.

We never travel with some really close friends because their idea of a vacation is very divergent from ours.

Conversely I am good with solo travel if I can't find others to go along and that is okay too.

Do you want a true family vacation ? I mean a real vacation not just taking care of the kids at an alternate location? Beaches offers great options for the whole family. Kids and teen clubs can allow the kids time indoors and out. The kids club staff are trained to work with Autistic children as well . Water parks offer children to and your inner child tons of fun. Public service announcement for all people using air purchased with a cruise through a cruise line. If for any reason your flight is delayed DO NOT HAVE THE AIRLINE REBOOK YOU ON A NEW FLIGHT. Contact the cruise line and your agent. Watch for their messages as to new flight options. If you take rerouting into your own hands then the cruise line will wash their hands of the promise to get you to the next cruise port that generally comes when booking air through the cruise line.

I know our first impulse is to just hop on a different flight that should make it in time but things often happen, especially if there is a delay for that new flight. Once you let the airline change the flight your agent and the cruise line no longer have any control of the flight.

I am so sick for my clients that took this route. I want to help make sure others do not do the same.

From our location Mexico tends to give the most bang for your buck. It can though be cooler than some Caribbean locations this time of year. US Travelers Will Need Authorization to Enter the UK in 2025
Starting on January 8, US citizens visiting the UK will need electronic travel authorization—even for layover

Starting on January 8, 2025 US travelers—as well as visitors from Australia and Canada—will be required to apply for permission to enter the UK through a new scheme known as Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).

After several delays, the UK ETA application portal officially opened for non-European travelers on November 27, 2024. US travelers with trips planned to the UK next year can now apply via the UK ETA mobile app or website. While most applications are approved the same day, it can take take up to 72 hours—so don't risk leaving it to the last minute.

Up coming, for me, and maybe you if interested, is a Safari, Zanzibar, and Victoria Falls. The plan is late Oct. Into Nov. 2025. We would recover from our jet lag in Zanzibar, do the 10 day Safari, then spend 3 or 4 days at Victoria Falls. You can do part or all with us. If you are interested drop me a message. I can also book a variety of other Safari's. My younger more adventurous clients did a back to back Kenya and Tanzania camping safari that was relatively easy on the bank account for a longer than 2 week trip.

Exotic trips come with some hoops like visas and Vaccinations. Although some are just advised things like the yellow fever vaccine are required a certain amount of time before travel. Hep A and B are a series that takes at least 8 months if you do the 3 shot protocol.

Cannes has a lot to offer as a port. We opted to visit Nice, the Midievil village of Eze, and Monaco.

Nice is a beauty and has a great public train to get around to the city center. The markets are lovely and lively. The boardwalk along the Cote d'Azur is a beautiful walk.

The Medieval Village of Eze is another town where cars are mostly missing. Charming with stores, statuary and churches. Perfumme is a big deal here.

Monaco is another small nation. You can see reminders of the races on your way. We parked the bus and took escalators and elevators to the area we walked. We came out a the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. We walked past an Amazing church that we later explored the inside of. Further in we came to the palace. From one side of the Palace you can look out and see 3 countries. There are shops and dining you can explore . A lovely garden skirts the walkway back to the parking area.

We got back to the ship with enough time we could have explored Cannes more but we're a bit worn out.

This is a lovely port and I would love to go back. I also really love how Virgin Voyages uses the lights while in different ports.

Of course a cruise is not just ports and sea days but also nights. Virgin Voyages offers options into the morning. Musical shows from solo singers to full productions happen across the ship. On the Scarlet Lady the Super club was comedy based where other ships have a variety show, or the Another Rose option. Many of its itineraries have overnights where you can spend the night partying away like Ibiza. Karaoke with everyone at planned events or rent a private room and be a private Rockstar. On sail away night there is a party with champagne for a while. Scarlet night is always big and goes late into the night so pack some red. Since our cruise was over Halloween there were different things planned across that night.
