On top of all the other festive area events, today happens to be . What better way to celebrate than at the Christmas Cookie Social today at 3pm at the Cameron County Recreation Center. It's all part of "U.F.O' Christmas" leading up to a screening of "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians tonight at 7:30pm. We look forward to seeing you this evening.

The Christmas Cookie Exchange at this Saturday's Cameron County Recreation Center/Barbara M Brown Memorial Library's
U.F.O' Christmas Tree event is now a Christmas Cookie Social. You do not need to sign up to attend this event. There will be festive treats, hot chocolate and Christmas cartoons to enjoy.

If you previously signed up for this event, please plan on attending and bringing cookies. Participants who previously signed up will still be able to swap holiday treats.

Also the Christmas Concert scheduled for 5pm has been canceled. On behalf of both the Recreation Center and Barbara M Brown Memorial Library, we apologize for any inconvenience. During that block of time there will be an Ugly Sweater Designing Workshop. Sweaters can then be used in the Ugly Sweater Contest later in the evening.

Several events at and dealing with the "U.F.O' Christmas Tree" event are endangered of being canceled unless more interest is received.

On Saturday, November 27th, the Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library is hosting an ugly sweater designing workshop. The sweaters you create at this workshop can be used in the Ugly Sweater Contest at the December 3rd "U.F.O' Christmas Tree "event. The library needs a minimum of five participants to sign up by Wednesday or this event is in danger of being cancelled. To register call the Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library at 814-486-8011.

Second, due to lack of interest, the Christmas Cookie Exchange at "U.F.O' Christmas Tree" is also in danger of being cancelled. If you wish to participate in this event, please head over to the Cameron County Recreation Center page and sign-up.

The Emporium marketing meeting at Rich Valley Wines last night was a huge success. For over two hours we discussed the marketing needs of both Emporium and the county. Thank you to everyone who attended. A very special thank you to Ryan Magaro for hosting us.

The next Emporium marketing meeting will be Wednesday December 8th at Rich Valley Wines. We are working on live streaming the next meeting for business owners who want to attend but are unable.

The next Southern Cameron County meeting will be at the Driftwood Saloon & Grill on Wednesday December 15th.

What follows are the rules regarding the cookie exchange for the Cameron County Recreation Center and The Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library Christmas program, "U.F. O' Christmas Tree".

For more information on the cookie exchange please contact Recreation Director Rowan Crisp.

-Participants are asked to bring a minimum of three dozen cookies of only one particular style.

-Participants will be asked to post on the Cameron County Rec. Center's page what cookie they are bringing to avoid duplicates.

-Trays and tongs will be available for all participants.

-Participants will places their cookies on the trays when they arrive and are assigned a “spot”.

-Depending on how many participants there are will determine the quantity of cookies each participant can take.

-Participants will need one copy of the cookie recipe to display with their cookies

-Participants are responsible for bringing their own cookie tin.

I am honored to present the agenda for the upcoming joint Christmas program between the Cameron County Recreation Center and The Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library entitled "U.F. O' Christmas Tree" on Saturday December 4th.

This family friendly, Sci-Fi themed event is sure to include a little something for everyone. Personally, I am excited to screen the cult classic and family friendly Christmas film, "Santa Conquers the Martians".

*UPDATE*
The Rec. Center has received a donated tree. On behalf of the Rec. Center thank you to everyone that has shared and assisted us on this project. We are still in need of sweaters for the Library. If you have an old sweater laying around, please consider donating.

The Cameron County Recreation Center is in need of a Christmas Tree for an up-coming public Christmas program. If you have access to a tree and can assist, please contact Rowan Crisp, the
Recreation Director.

Parents, as you Trick-or-Treat downtown with the little ones this Saturday night, please make it a point to venture down Chestnut Street and visit not only my wife and myself but various members of the Recreation Center. We will be outside the Rec. Center from 4pm to 6pm handing out candy and having some spooky fun. We look forward to seeing all your fun and spooky costumes. See ya Saturday.

While Facebook remains the best way for a business to reach their current and future customers, Twitter is still the best way for business owners to stay in touch with other businesses, both locally and nationally.

Currently, Cameron County has little to no representation on Twitter. This includes bars, restaurants, parks, attractions, stores, hotels, motels, campgrounds, other retail services and government. I'd love to see that change.

Twitter, besides allowing you to see what other folks in your chosen field are currently doing, is still the best form of social media to keep you up to date on current trends in your particular industry.
