It was good to finally get some time on the water for the first time in 2025. I was able to get out for a couple hours with my friend Kris in the recent "warm up".

The season of change....

Today's trip marks the end of my 2024 guiding season. It was definitely a change this year. New commitments made it so I guided my fewest trips in my 11 years as a guide. As always, I thank everyone that I had a chance to fish with this season. To the many folks I had to turn away, apologies, but I hope we get a chance to fish in the future.

The good news is next year I should be back to a more normal routine, and I'll be back in the water a little more regularly.

Now it's time for a busy winter, hopefully tie a few flies, and look forward to all that 2025 has in store...

🍁 streamer season 🍁

It was good to get some time on the water earlier this week with my friend Mason and throw some big flies for some big fish. We hadn't had a chance to fish together since early spring! The cold, wet weather had the fish in a fine mood...

There is nothing as spectacular as the colors on an Autumn Brook Trout 🍁

It's that time of year again that so many of us look forward to. But it's yet another September of low water and warm weather.

As always, please give these fish the utmost consideration and care as they attempt to complete their life's work. Be mindful of warm water temperatures and stressing fish that are exposed in low water. Mortality rates for spawning brook trout are high even without the added angling pressure. Take good care of them so we can ensure this amazing fish's survival long term.

Thank you to everyone for voicing their opinion. It has been tabled for a year.

What's at stake...

The deadline to comment on NH Fish and Game's proposed fishing regulation changes is midnight September 6th. These proposed regulations in their current form will do irreparable harm to some of NH's best coldwater fisheries. I urge any angler who spends time fishing in the Granite State to reach out to NHFG in opposition to these rule proposals. Emails can be sent to [email protected]

Starting to get dressed up for the show...

It's been a busy July with everything except fishing or guiding. Finally had a day to get out and do a bit of fishing and check out some spots. The rain this summer has been helping water flows, but you still need to keep an eye on those water temps. Cooler weather isn't too far away, and it'll be fall before you know it.
