Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park is open to vehicles. Due to the removal of a large boulder, traffic is 1-way near Rainbow Curve.

Remember that weather and conditions may change rapidly at high elevations in Rocky, park visitors should always be prepared to adjust travel plans accordingly and are encouraged to call the park’s Trail Ridge Road recorded status phone line at (970) 586-1222 for the most current information on Trail Ridge Road.

Going for a hike in Rocky? Did you remember to pack traction devices?

Most of the trails above 9000 feet in Rocky Mountain National Park are snow packed and extremely icy. While snowshoes may not be needed on all trails, traction devices that attach to the bottom of your hiking boots, along with hiking poles, are strongly recommended tools to help you experience a fun winter hiking adventure.
