This one-mile walk takes visitors through the heart of downtown and into our Victorian residential neighborhood in search of public street art & "Ozark Victorian" architecture. The tour is less than a mile, but it is up and down. We try to keep you in the shade as much as possible, and we also walk at a slow pace to allow you to catch a stride.

But to be on the safe side? Bring/buy a bottle of water before the tour starts!

Let's welcome our new Tour Interpreter Intern: Kate Tyree is an undergraduate student at Pittsburg State University (PSU) working towards two Bachelor of Science degrees in Recreation Management and Field Biology and Ecology. Her time at PSU has provided avenues to discover her passion for serving the public and opportunities to pursue it.

Her recreation courses have allowed her to help with several Special Olympics Kansas events. She has fallen in love with the environment created by the anticipation and excitement of the Special Olympics athletes at these events. She always enjoys knowing she can help facilitate a safe and enjoyable experience for the participants.

Another stepping stone in her student career has been participating in the PSU Nature Reach program, a student entity of PSU that serves as an outreach program to the university and local communities. Working with the animal ambassadors utilized during educational programs, tours, and summer camps has directed her educational focus on pursuing a career in Environmental Education. After her graduation in the Spring of 2025, she is excited to pursue a career that allows her to express creativity and spark joy in others.
