Q: “Steve, how do you find meteorites?”

A: “I do it very well, thank you!” 😜

All joking aside, to answer the above question, I am starting a Facebook group where I will share some of my best secrets on how anyone (even you) can actually find meteorites.

If you would like to join me in my new Facebook Group, comment below: “Link me” and I will send you the link to the group via Messenger.

Bonus: I’m giving away a link to a short video that includes “The 10 MUST HAVE ITEMS Before You Chase a Fireball.” Odds are there will be a fireball near you in the next 12 months and if you are serious about wanting to recover a piece of it, you will want to get these items ahead of time (hint: you can get them all at low cost at Walmart or Amazon.)

Collectors say that, dealers say that, many, many dealers say that. But if they did that, they probably would have to increase security at the National Collection. Or maybe just let it be the centerpiece to your collection.

Hey folks, I’m curious, would anyone be interested in going meteorite hunting in Chile? Let me know if so.

My first meteorite NFT is up on auction at OpenSea. As far as I know, this is the first ever meteorite NFT ever offered. Here is your chance to watch history being made when someone buys it. (It will sell, I will override the reserve block even if it does not go up further).

At this point it is only at 0.1874 ETH...will it go up more? Etherium is at a big dip right now so it is cheaper to buy it than even a week ago. Check it out; the future is now:

This NFT image was created by Fireball Steve Arnold from a photo he took of a thin section he made from slice he cut from the 2,288g Brachinite Achondrite meteorite he found on a meteorite hunting expedition n the El Medano region

Earth Peridot (from Kilbourne Hole, NM), while not extra-terrestrial still really cool, especially for those that were born in August. These are called “performance bombs” as the peridot was in clusters that traveled Earth’s surface via lava flow in a volcano. Both sold!

Meteorite Jewelry Material... 432 grams.

Do you make jewelry? (If so, please check this out)

Do you know someone who makes jewelry? (If so, please TAG them below)

Do you know people who like jewelry? (If so, please SHARE this post)

This is a thick part slice of the famous Gibeon iron meteorite from Namibia. This is the material Rolex meteorite watch dials are made of and it is the favorite of meteorite jewelry makers because of it’s stability and aesthetic beauty. Several years back I had a water jet cut out some knife blanks from the slice and had a few square rings partially cut out, and this piece is waiting to be finished cutting (with a jeweler’s saw and/or a trim saw).

The possibilities are endless.

One of the squares could be quartered from corner to corner to provide 4 tables to go on top of 4 rings. Gems could be countersunk into it. The center cores could be “salami” cut to make disks for pendants or earrings. The exterior “scraps” could be cut into pendants or polished up and etched to resell on eBay as meteorite specimens.

Notice how the octahedral crystal structure of the specimen has been sliced to reveal a beautiful squareish appearance. Often Gibeon displays a triangle or even a wonky non-uniform pattern due it’s normal directional cuts. Seldom have I seen the crystal pattern square up so amazingly. It truely is stunning.

This chunk is a money maker and the hard part is done. All that is needed is the creative artist to turn this into some stellar pieces of jewelry...is that person you? If so contact me.

The individual ring shown in some of the pictures, I periodically wear as is...although it too could be accessorized or shaped to become something different.

This unique piece has traveled for millions of miles over billions of years, has landed on Earth, made it to me, and it’s journey is almost complete, only a few more hands for it to travel through before someone will have a piece of jewelry of a lifetime.

Like and share if you want to help get it to it’s final home(s).

Thanks!

Wire saw meteorite cutting services available.

Over the past few years I have cut quite a few of my own meteorites with my wire saw. (See photos below and videos stored here on FB).

Now I’m opening up my cutting services for a limited number of clients. My saw is able to cut up to 4 inch by 4 inches slices virtually as thin as you might want and as this as the specimens durability will allow.

Very competitive rates. Ask for details.

Prettiest meteorite in the world!
..well, definitely one of the prettiest under cross polarized light at least. (I’m biased just a little.)

This is my new Chilean Brachinite. Brachinites are Primative Achondrites and are one of the rarest classifications (with just 45) found in all the world (and we are not certain how many of the 32 Brachinites found in Northwest Africa are paired and came from the same meteorite fall). This is the first Brachinite ever found in the Western Hemisphere!! This is about as rare as it gets! The Brachinites all come from the same parent body in space and this one is 93% olivine. Science knows very little about this planetary body but there is suspicion that it could be the Nanetta Asteroid (289 Nanetta). Hopefully with this specimen, scientists will be able to learn more about this alien yet neighboring world in our solar system.

This is why private field recovery expeditions of meteorites is so important. I personally found this rock last November on a trip to Chile on a privately funded trip. Private collectors help rescue meteorites so we can learn more.

The picture below is taken through cross polarized lenses but was taken with my iPhone - not under magnification. (Sorry for the poor quality)

All classification research is done...waiting on NomCom any day to assign the official name. If anyone wants to add this to their collection, there are more details in the comments below.
