REAL ID
I want to clear up some confusion. If you are traveling internationally, you will still need your passport. If you are traveling domestically, you will only need one valid form of identification – either your REAL ID or another acceptable alternative such as a passport, not both.

If you are going on an Alaskan or Mexican Riviera cruise, you will need more than a REAL ID card. You will minimally need an original or certified copy of your birth certificate and a valid driver's license. Hope this information is helpful.

Passport Card from the Travel.State.Gov website

The U.S. passport card is a wallet-sized, plastic passport that has no visa pages. The card is proof of U.S. citizenship and identity and has the same length of validity as the passport book.

The card is for U.S. citizens who travel by land and sea from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and Caribbean countries.

The card is not valid for international travel by air and is cheaper than the passport book.

Many cruise lines will not accept this in place of a passport book or original birth certificate for Alaskan cruises.

What Is a Passport Card?

Introduced in 2008, the passport card is a relatively inexpensive personal identification card that can be used in place of a passport book or driver's license at land and sea entry points to the United States. It is not, however, sufficient for international travel by air — something to keep in mind when you dash to the airport hoping for a last-minute getaway. But if you're planning a road trip to Mexico or Canada from the United States, a passport card is all you need to get there.

If you plan to visit Paris, make sure to purchase a museum pass before you go. You can buy one online. I was recently there and I walked right into the Musee d'Orsay and Musee l'Orangerie, no waiting in line.
Allow about 3+ hours for the Musee d'Orsay and 1+ hours for the Musee l'Orangerie.
