We run fishing charters out of Woodley Island Marina for most of the season but often run trips out of other ports if that is where the bite is happening such as the salmon opener in Monterey Bay in April or chasing tuna out of Fort Bragg in the summer and fall. Our charter boat is a 2008 Steiger Craft 255 DV Miami that exceeds all US Coast Guard safety requirements, has high end electronics, a hu

ge open deck, a private toilet, and seating for 6. Gear is top notch and the Captain is savy and will do what it takes to get fish on the boat. I am hoping to leave the crab gear out till Christmas and will run trips as weather allows. The longer range forecast has some big weather showing around the 22nd but hoping it doesn’t play out that way. Let me know if you still want to get out and we will try to make it happen. Rock N Rollin today and crabbing continues! I was likely the closest person to the epicenter of the big earthquake today while I was commercial fishing the deep waters near Cape Mendocino and the triple junction at mendo ridge. I could not figure out what was wrong with the boat feeling the deck pulsating and undulating thru my feet! A good buddy texted seconds later saying big quake and it makes sense. I felt it thru the boat and I’m sure just a few miles from the source. The ensuing tsunami warning brought a lot of thoughts and concerns but I was safe where I was and played out fine as I had more to catch and no rush to get in. Crab trips continue with awesome full and plentiful crab and even some rockfishing till end of the month if you still want to get out. Also have boxes of vacuum sealed fresh frozen commercially caught rockfish available if you don’t have time to get out and want freezer fish for the winter. Update….. Thanks to all that came down this afternoon we appreciate the support! We still have about 15 fish left from 10-22 lbs or so and I will be there doing more sales and cutting at noon sunday after my morning charter if anyone missed us today. Fresh Albacore today 2-4pm maybe later

I will be at woodley island selling fresh albacore caught yesterday. Bled and iced sashimi grade fish. Late season super oily fish. $5/lbs will cut and bag them for free for ya. Presale text is encouraged but not necessary.

Finally tuna time on Scrimshaw for 2024. Better late than never. Will be running albacore trips thru Sept as weather and conditions allow. Maybe those bluefin show again in oct also! Halibut and rockfish still open too and will be running those trips as well. Check in to get on the tuna list, text is easiest for me to keep track of but calls are fine too.

Last couple days were spent down off Cape Mendocino hunting out lingcod before wrapping up their rockfish limits. Real nice grade of lings and a gorgeous mix of all the species we are able to take home to feed our friends and families with. Have room on trips starting this weds and from Aug 20th thru Sept for inshore trips and check in if you want to play albacore this year also. Whacked on the pac butts again yesterday with the killer crew from McKville. Big fish was 44 lbs and heartbreak happened and a bigger one got away. Still some good grade around. Nice grade pacific halibut still coming over the rail. With nice weather forecasted for the next week this is the first long weather window we have seen all season. This beauty was 57 lbs on the scale today. We did some other halibut lingcod and rockfish as well on a nice ocean. I have the whole boat open this Sunday (4th) after a cancellation as well as next Friday (9th) and have room on open load trips next weds and thurs(7-8th). Halibut on the chew this week! Picture of a 37 lber to end the day today of Val who is a regular on Scrimshaws deck. Plenty of quota left on the pacific halibut season. Guessing it will run thru sept with how many days off we have had with the wind this year. Albacore are here and I’ll get the boat and gear ready for that next week while the wind blows. Finally got a break in the howling May wind to get out the last few days and found slow but steady halibut fishing. The grade is the best we have ever seen! The best bite and weather is yet to come. Hollar if you want me to check the book for dates. I still have this Saturday and Father’s Day open and a few weekdays thru end of June and quite a bit of room still in July and Aug. Here is Jon and Cody with their prizes from their two days of private charters……..70 lbs on a long run chasing trophies down along the Lost Coast and 43 and 47lbers yesterday in a few hours right in front of town.

Back to crab pots yesterday and the crabbing is great as are the crabs. I’m gunna run trips till the new year if the weather allows leaving the gear out there.
