Mexico is so much more than Cancun!

One of our favorite parts of being a travel advisor is introducing our clients to new ways to explore and go beyond Cancun.

And yes — Cancun is amazing. But if you’re looking for something different, here’s a few ideas:

Isla Mujeres
🌴 Postcard-perfect beaches without the crowds
Just a 20-minute ferry ride from Cancun, Isla Mujeres feels like a hidden gem. Think crystal-clear water at Playa Norte, vibrant local charm, and epic snorkeling with colorful marine life. It’s a quiet escape where time slows down, and yes, you can still sip margaritas by the beach.

Holbox
🏝️ This tiny island feels like a secret slice of paradise.
Holbox is where I send clients who want untouched beauty and a slower pace. No cars, just sandy streets, boutique hotels, and flamingos casually hanging out on the shore. Plus, the bioluminescent waters at night? Total bucket list material.

Playa del Carmen
☀️A little more action, but with a local twist.
Playa del Carmen is all about variety. Stroll Quinta Avenida for vibrant restaurants and shops, or head to quieter beaches just outside the main area. I always recommend a day trip to Cozumel for incredible snorkeling or diving, it’s just a ferry ride away.

Once you’ve picked your destination, you need the perfect resort or hotel to stay, and I just happen to be an expert in matching clients to accommodations that fit their needs and vibe.

Three Caribbean islands you’ll LOVE other than Jamaica 👇

Jamaica gets a lot of love (and for good reason), but if you’ve been before and you’re ready to explore a little deeper to some of the smaller islands, here are three I’m currently planning trips to for clients:

🏝️ Saint Lucia – Think lush rainforests, dramatic volcanic peaks, and the iconic Pitons. This island is made for couples who want romance and adventure. You can hike Gros Piton for epic views, then cool off in a private plunge pool with the ocean as your backdrop. It’s the perfect mix of thrill and chill.

🏝️ Grenada – Sure, it’s called the Spice Isle, but Grenada is full of surprises. The underwater sculpture park? A total must for snorkelers and divers. And if you’re a foodie, you’ll love visiting a local chocolate estate or sipping rum straight from the source at a distillery. This island has flavor in every sense of the word.

🏝️ Barbados – Yes, the pink-sand beaches are dreamy, but there’s so much more to love here. From luxury catamaran cruises to secret coves only the locals know, this island nails that blend of elegance and authenticity. And let’s not forget—it gave us Rihanna. Enough said.

Every island in the Caribbean has its own unique experiences and if you ask us, that just means more excuses to book trips!

We literally breathe a sigh of relief every time a client makes it to the airport, boards their flight, and is officially on the way.

But what happens if you do miss your flight?

1️⃣ First, if you’re headed to the airport and you’re pretty sure you won’t make your flight, contact the airline en route to let them know. They may even be able to start making arrangements for a new flight.

2️⃣ When you arrive, make a beeline for the airline’s customer service desk — they’re your best allies for getting booked onto another flight.

3️⃣ Get in touch with your travel advisor (Hey hey, that’s us!) so we can re-arrange your airport transfers and call the hotel to let them know you’re arriving later so you don’t risk getting bumped in an overbooking situation, or getting stuck with the worst room.

When travel plans hang in the balance, it’s a must to have support and someone to help smooth things over.

Nobody ever wants to talk about when small group trips go south — and by south, we don’t mean to the Caribbean to enjoy the beautiful sunshine. ☀️

And even we don’t love having the conversation.

But we’d be skipping a key part of our services if we didn’t mention all of the things we do to help our clients avoid risking their vacation plans and get out of sticky situations.
