Here at Misty Shoals Haven, Winter is our favorite season! There are many great activities to enjoy both here and in the surrounding area! We have snowshoes, skis for cross country skiing, and even an ice auger available to help you have a blast while saving on packing space!

Words can't adequately describe the effect that spending time on our lake shore has on our guests. Come sync into a rhythm with nature as you lull through your day, enjoying activities like swimming, boating, grilling, having a bonfire, and maybe seeing the Northern Lights, on a lake with very few inhabitants. Between that and unique local history and attractions in every direction in all seasons, time spent here is great therapy! And we're currently in the middle of festival season!

The "Stairs of Death," constructed by the Incas during their reign from 1438 to 1533 CE, are a harrowing section of stone steps located on Huayna Picchu mountain. Standing 2,693 meters above sea level, Huayna Picchu is one of the steep peaks overlooking the renowned site of Machu Picchu in Peru. These stairs lead to the summit of Huayna Picchu, where Inca ruins can be found. The Incas ingeniously used agricultural terraces and platforms resembling steps to cultivate crops on these steep inclines.

Among the stunning views from Huayna Picchu, the old city of Machu Picchu is particularly remarkable, along with the vista of the Temple of the Moon. The Huayna Picchu Stairs of Death are notoriously narrow, often too narrow for climbers to place both feet on a step simultaneously. Moreover, climbers have no handrails or safety features to hold onto, relying solely on the terraces on one side for support.
