Women's, Gender, & Sexuality Studies at TCNJ

Women's, Gender, & Sexuality Studies at TCNJ The Women's, Gender & Sexuality Studies major is interdisciplinary. Some courses focus specifically on the roles of women, their contributions, and experiences.

The courses enable students to understand changing social patterns and the effects of institutions and culture on behavior. Courses explore how gender shapes social roles and identities, as well as the function of race, class, and sexuality in the experience of gender within and across cultures. Other Women's and Gender Studies courses study the impact of women and gender on various cultures at va

rious times, and enable students to understand and evaluate changing social patterns and the effects of institutions and cultural assumptions. From a Women's and Gender Studies perspective, the construct of gender difference is fundamental to the organization of human relations. The more aware one becomes of gender, the more one's view of the world of relationships changes, and the better able one is to make intelligent choices. When a gender lens is added to a traditional one, a broader and deeper understanding of the world appears. The major prepares students for a variety of professional and graduate schools, as well as positions in corporations, government agencies, and service industries.

BSU and Brother 2 Brother proudly present “Sista Circle and The Brother’s Roundtable”, a night of community, dialogue, and connection!

In seeking to address the gender divide within the Black community, we aim to host a respectful and affirming environment for participants to engage in conversation about trust and relationships, impact of colorism, stigmas surrounding mental health, and the influence of media on Black friendships. Joining us for the conversation is Karima McKenzie, TCNJ alum and an educator, author, and speaker who is the founder and CEO of Temples Are Sacred, an organization that centers self-love and empowerment!

Come join us this Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025 at 8 pm in the Intercultural Center (Roscoe West 201) or the Lion’s Legacy Center (Roscoe West 136) for this impactful collaboration!

Thank you for contributing your photos and decorations to the ofrenda and making it a special experience for everyone involved.
