Mama moose kicked out last year’s calf. This means she’s giving birth again very soon.

It’s time to tap Birch sap!

Birch sap can be drank right from the tree. I prefer to filter first using a paper coffee filter. It can also be made into syrup but I like the fresh taste of nature. Plus I’m too lazy to boil it for days 👏

Birch water is a natural source of vitamins & minerals, used for centuries. It’s rich in magnesium, calcium & potassium, making it natures electrolyte!

One Birch tree can produce up to 20 liters a day. I may freeze and give these to Trapper Cabin guests next year.

My first returning Airbnb guest brought me gifts!!

My eyes are watering. All my guests have been such a blessing to meet and help them realize their dream of seeing the Auroras.

Thank you Stephane!!

Big shout out to my AirBnB partners I aligned with this winter!!

Three local female owned businesses-Tabitha Iris of Howling Bay Kennel and the other is Lindsay Balmer of Bee The Light Imagery. Both of these relationships are referral based.

My guests love these ladies and they add value to my rentals Aurora Log Trapper Cabin and Aurora River House, both on AirBnB.

When there are clouds over the cabin you can hire Lindsay to chase the lights, she’s been hugely successful!

Tabitha will thrill you on a dog sled tour day or night for Aurora viewing!

Plus, Aurora Bear LLC for Aurora photography and Aurora Snow Shoeing.

But none of this could happen without my all female cleaning crew Natalie and Amie Craft. Based on reviews, guests love a well-staged and spotless rental!

Thank you so much!!

Thanks to all my guests! The Trapper Cabin is listed as a rare find and guest favorite.

It’s still hard to believe that photo was taken off the cabin porch by past guests Blair & David! Any plans for a return trip? 🥶♥️

I have a new listing that just went live! Unlike the Trapper Cabin this beautiful, nearby home is spacious and accommodates up to 8 guests.

There’s a large patio for Aurora viewing and it is fully modernized.

The house can be rented in whole or only upstairs for two guests. Pricing will be adjusted accordingly.

Please tell your friends and family about the Aurora River House, if they have a group coming to Fairbanks for Aurora season!

With the renovation of the Trapper Cabin complete, photos are updated, it’s almost time to welcome the first guests upon reopening!

Another listing will go live soon, large 3 bedroom house with fabulous views.

This winter is predicted to offer Aurora displays as good as last. I’m very excited to host again!

As of late, there’s been more small animals roaming the yard, than last year. This cute porcupine and a fluffy red fox.

One week after Aurora season officially ended we get a fabulous show! Taken tonight at the Trapper Cabin, about 1:40am with a colorful burst around 2:05am.

The prediction is this coming winter 2023 will be even better!

Just when I thought spring was here, we are under another snow warning. Yard work is on hold again!

But we have new updates for the Trapper Cabin. A Queen Sized bed (thank you for the guest feedback!) plus new and historic artwork, some past guests have not seen.

The shower will be remodeled with scented Western Red Cedar walls. New windows and roof to be completed this summer.

In the coming weeks, I’ll post photos of why the cabin is closed. It’s not just for remodel it’s because of Break Up. Break Up in Interior Alaska is when all 5-6 feet of snow melts and causes flooding, drainage issues, the driveway will turn into a pond, and a big muddy mess!

When you’re standing outside in the dark waiting for Lady A when suddenly you realize the Martians have arrived.

I read it was a Space X satellite, but seeing it fly across the sky in person was crazy!

The moose skull I found last fall needed some cleaning. Using hydrogen peroxide it whitens very nicely.

Then to preserve, use common white glue and water, brush on and dry.

I have a bear skull I found also, so that’s next.

These will hang on the Food Cache when it’s lifted.

The first Snow Bunting birds I’ve seen!

This is a non-breeding male as noted by the rust marks behind his ears. There are 3 males feeding at the cabin.

These are considered the toughest birds on the planet, they nest further north than Ravens. These 3 males are migrating north (every April) where they thrive in the Prudhoe Bay Area. Females will follow in a few weeks.

These Arctic Tundra dwellers are so highly regarded that Inuits build and regularly clean bird nesting boxes for them. It’s believed that these birds have spiritual significance and bring good fortune for those who build nests for them.

If you need me, I’ll be outside building dozens of boxes 🤣

I toured Running Reindeer Ranch today in Fairbanks. A small family owned business and very interactive 2 hour tour. Definitely worth it!

Three Reindeer are about to give birth. Can’t wait to see the photos.
