It's been a busy summer and we're very pleased to add this ambitious communications project to our client list this year. At about 3,000 pounds per spool, we've safely handled over a 1/4 million pounds at two locations receiving and staging these project materials. Next up is the deployment, strategically executed, to meet the project timeline. Logistics!

Things happen fast this time of year! It sure was nice of the folks in Circle to prep a nice building pad for us to set up this 16’x52’ tent. We’ll be back out there in a week to set up the plumbing, propane, and electrical, but first we need to get down to Homer for a really exciting project!

We squeezed in a quick job recently to go build a kitchen and washeteria for the community of Circle. This will help provide food, showers and laundry for the people who were displaced by the ice jam flooding that occurred during breakup and also help out the volunteers and contractors working to clean up and rebuild over the summer.

Circle City is also a Yukon Quest checkpoint, where several of us have made close friendships and incredible memories. We’re hoping for a safe and speedy recovery for our friends in this community!

It takes a lot of preparation to fly a camp to a remote location. Sketches become lists, lists lead to follow-up lists, work is done to solve tomorrow’s problems today, components get meticulously packed into crates, and crates get delivered to our friends at Everts Air Cargo to be flown to the field. So many steps, so much planning, soon it’ll be time for the build phase!

Job Type:
Full Time – Year Round

Qualifications:
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Ability to obtain DOT Health Card within 15 days of Employment
A pro-active, problem-solving, positive attitude.
Ability to manage a varied workload with constantly changing priorities with limited supervision.
Detail-orientation, good organization, and ability to work effectively under pressure.
Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills by demonstrating the ability to develop and maintain positive rapport with a diverse employee/customer population.
Ability to accomplish assignments in reasonable timeframe.
Ability to work overtime as a job requirement dependent of department needs, as well as weekend, holiday or evening work.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training.
Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Working knowledge of safety practices & ability to make sound safe decisions in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to sit, stand, walk on the job for up to 12 hours & lift up to 50 pounds

Duties:
Maintain good order and cleanliness of the yard & shop(s)
Arrive earlier than other staff to ensure yard is clear for all employees and work space is available. IE plowing in the winter.
Unload, receive & check accuracy of deliveries
Prepare & load outgoing shipments
Diagnose & service equipment & gear. IE checking oil and greasing equipment.
Above average ability operating skid steers, forklifts, & plowing equipment.
Trailer loading & hauling experience, both gooseneck and bumper pull
Cleaning and performing light maintenance on fleet vehicles, tools, & equipment
Have good working knowledge of safe use of vehicles, tools & equipment
Make final inspection of equipment before customer receives it in “ready to deploy” condition
Verify fuel consumed and inspect all “detail” of equipment when returned
Assist in general carpentry projects as needed
Assist in other operations as needed
Follow all safety requirements & guidelines at all times
