Recent tragic events in the United States have shown that there is a glaring deficiency in the manner in which threats to personal safety are responded to, specifically, the ways in which facilities alert the occupants to these potentially life threatening situations. H.I.A.S was designed to assist facilities in increasing the awareness, preparedness, and alerting capabilities in which those facil

ities respond to those threats. Research and experience shows that there is a direct correlation between the response time of both facilities and emergency services to potential loss of life, so much so that emergency service responders have altered the way in which they respond and react to these potential acts of violence. Due to this, the need for occupants of a facility to have as much time as possible to respond, and execute their emergency procedures is paramount. Every second that the occupants have to execute these procedures maximizes the potential of securing their personal safety.
