Hive is an overnight camp for girls and gender nonbinary youth, grades 3-6, located on Vermont’s beautiful Lake Fairlee.

At Hive we believe in the power of positive relationships. We believe that every camper can learn, grow and choose to be the person they want to be in a non-competitive, mutually supportive environment. We reflect daily on our relationships with one another, and with the natural world all around us. Woven together, these relationships become the fabric of our experience, and we wear it proudly. Ea
ch day we stretch ourselves, physically as well as socially, to learn new skills which earn the respect and confidence of our peers and mentors. And summer after summer we strive to become role models for the campers and counselors who follow in our footsteps.

There’s nothing quite like Harry Potter Day at Hive! From creating house cheers, to the trolley woman dropping off chocolate frogs, to sending your tent family "howlers" for snoring or not getting up till KP, it is a hilarious and memorable day for all.

Twelve Hivers participated in the Goldfish swim - a 2 mile swim that takes them to our day camp (Horizons) and back!

Hive went to Aloha earlier this month to participate in a Fourth of July carnival run by the Midis (counselors in training). Afterwards, we walked to Lanakila for dinner and performances by all of the residential camps, including a Hive camper bringing down the house with her cello!

Campers ventured out on many different off-campus trips this summer including an overnight hike in the White Mountains and a canoe overnight to Squam Lake in New Hampshire. We’ve also enjoyed multiple trips to Lanakila for “swamp tromps” where campers adventure through a marsh, a great opportunity to get as messy as you want.

Multiple campers have been working on their Rover, a camp challenge requiring them to earn a rank in six different departments and complete a community service project.

Hivers have been busy working on skill development, with many campers completing their first ranks in Archery, Sailing, and Land Sports. One camper completed her fourth rank in Tennis which shows incredible dedication and hard work!
