Ohana Family Camp

Ohana Family Camp The quintessential Vermont family camp, Ohana is one of five renowned summer camps operated by The Al
(17)

“Ohana” in Hawaiian means your family, community, or circle of special friends. The camp we call Ohana is a simple, natural place for generations of families and friends to relax and play together in the beautiful outdoors. Ohana was built in the early 1900s as a family vacation lodge. An early brochure described the camp as a collection of “cozy little houses for two or more, and a main hall with

a view unsurpassed in New England.” Restored to their original charm, Ohana’s rustic cabins and historic dining lodge still overlook that spectacular vista, from a high hill at the center of 100 waterfront acres, open fields, forests and rural countryside.

We'd like to thank our entire community—campers, parents, staff, and supporters—for a GREAT summer at camp. It was another amazing year, and we couldn’t have done it without you. We hope to see as many of you as possible again next season (enrollment begins in October!), and in the meantime we’ll be keeping in touch through your mailboxes, inboxes, on our website, and through our Aloha Foundation Facebook and Instagram pages. THANK YOU ALL! Have a wonderful year!

Today we recognize Juneteenth, which marks the day in 1865 when enslaved Texans learned they were free. This is a celebration of healing, joy, and advocacy for many Black Americans. We honor this historical milestone, while remaining focused on the work still to do in our community.

It’s the time of year when we JUST CAN’T WAIT to get to camp! It’s also the time of year when we need to be extra cautious on the narrow lake roads that lead us there.

Please join us in keeping to the posted speed limits and practicing undistracted driving on your way to camp this summer. Our campers, staff, and neighbors all notice—and appreciate our efforts.

See you safe! See you soon!

Important Message: Camp Visitors

Already this summer we’ve hosted foxes, honeybees, Canada geese, and a good number of hawks. They’re just a part of our wonderful community here in Fairlee, as are you. However, we would like to gently remind our larger community that unless you are a camper, staff member, or wildlife, the Alohas do not have an open campus policy while camp is in session. We work very hard to curate a summer experience like no other, and it takes all our focus to maintain a special, safe environment for all our campers. If you would like to visit one of our campuses, please contact the camp office directly to see if arrangements can be made.

We greatly appreciate your cooperation. The foxes just ignored us.

Staff Highlight:
Join us in welcoming Sebastian from Colombia! He describes himself as funny and passionate about sports. Sebastian enjoys all kinds of activities (as illustrated in his photo) and he loves to be in contact with nature and animals. He'll be right at home at Ohana!
