Update from last week’s STR meeting held in Fairplay…

The meeting began with an overview of the STR market (focused on Fairplay), followed by breakout working groups. Here’s the data that was shared ⬇️

•2,000 STR listings in Park County

•500 have a license

•120 applications are under review

•1,400 are noncompliant, with 20-30% likely ineligible for a license

•70% of STRs are located in the FairPlay area

We also went over the results of the STR survey:

•35% see a mostly positive impact of STRs, while 33% see a mostly negative impact

•60% feel STRs benefit the local economy, with 15% seeing a negative impact

•24% see no impact at all

•Property prices increasing due to STRs was highlighted as perception rather than validated data.

In the working groups, the key issues addressed were:

•The influx of STRs post-COVID and how they’ve altered mountain neighborhoods

•Trespassing, noise, parties, trash, and parking issues

•Water usage concerns, particularly with hot tubs depleting neighborhood wells

First real snow of the season may start tonight. 10-20" by end of Sunday. A-Basin skiing opens for season on Sunday. If you or your guests don't have 4wd, you shouldn't be up this weekend.
