Iceland - how to...

Here are two ways to do Iceland in 2025:

1. "Express" bare bones small-group 4-night trip with Reykjavik and the South Coast. Includes all sightseeing, breakfast 2 mornings, transportation throughout via private mini-bus, while staying in guest houses and small cottage farm stays. This tour is offered every other Thursday from May 1-October 3 with "on sale" prices starting at $1300/person + flights (and Iceland Air can get you there non-stop from BWI). The "on sale" rates are valid through next Monday 2/3.

2. "Business-class" style guided tour for 8 nights to circumnavigate this incredible island country. You'll see glaciers, fjords, hot springs, volcanoes, & waterfalls while enjoying the peaceful charm & culture. Includes 8 nights in 4* hotels, "extra legroom" motorcoach transportation throughout with full sightseeing itinerary (plus some choice optional excurions), breakfast daily & 5 dinners. Offered most weeks from May 11-August 31. Most dates are currently $6100/person + flights, including 10% early sale. The May 11 departure is $5100!

PSA Travel Announcement... ☎️☎️☎️✈️✈️✈️
If you are planning to travel at all in 2025 here are two new requirements expected to go into effect next year:

1. Domestic air travel will require the REAL ID Beginning May 7, 2025. You will need a state-issued REAL ID compliant license or identification card, or another acceptable form of ID (such as a U.S. Passport), to fly within the United States. Visit www.tsa.gov for a list of acceptable forms of ID and additional information regarding the REAL ID requirement.

2. Travelling to Europe? ETIAS credentials are expected to launch in the first half of the year. This is an electronic travel authorization that allows for US Passport holders (and others) to enter 30 countries in Europe for a short stay (typically up to 90 days). The process to apply hasn't yet been launched, but once it does it is recommended to apply right away if you have travel plans taking place after the required date (still TBD). There will be a nominal fee associated with the application. The countries in blue are those included (basically the bulk of Europe except the UK and most of the Balkan nations). Most of these countries are also part of the Schengen area.

You all know I just returned from the Belgium & Holland Tulip Time river cruise. These trips only take place about 6 weeks per year from mid-March through late April/early May and they are almost sold out for 2025 departures. I just learned yesterday that 2026 departures are now open for reservations and are offering an amazing 20% discount if reserved by next Saturday, 5/25!

Next week: I'll be making a visit to Holland's famous Keukenhof Gardens outside Amsterdam! Open only a few weeks each year to showcase some 7 million spring-flowering bulbs, including tulips, daffodils, hyacinths (my personal fave), lilies, bluebells, crocuses, and countless others, this should definitely be on your must-do list.
